Brockville, Jan. 0. -Quite a sensational
story was in circulation around town t0
the effect that ldr, Q. Bush, M.L.A., a
prominent cheese manufacturer, with head-
quarters at Kemptvl]1e, was not only 10
financial difficulties, but that he had left
for parts unknown. Mr. Bush is about as
well known In Brockville as he is in the
back e country, and the ugly rumors natural-
ly caused somewhat of a surprise among
his numerous friends. It has been known
for some time past that his financial stand-
ing was in rather a shaky condition. Ile
cleared up the story about his disappear-

and acknowledged being in financial Be was not long in interviewing
Sheriff' Smart, to whom he made an assign-
ment for the benefit of his creditors.
His liabilities are said to be in the neigh-
borhood of $10,000 or $11,000, with approxi-
mate assets of 47000. Mr. Bush
owner of several ylarge cheese factories, and
though he has always borne the reputation
of being a careful business man, his re-
verses are said to have been brought about
by bad speculations on last season's output,
all of which he has sold, so that there are
no valuable assets from that ,quarter.
The principal creditors are the farmers
who are patrons of Mr. Bush's factories.
These will be heavy losers, as Mr. Bush
has announced that he cannot pay
more than 50 cents on the dollar. A meet-
ing of the creditors is called at the sheriff's
office for Friday, the 15th Inst.
