the winter. Last WIT was again attacked,
Leading of heed's Sarsaparilla I was led
to try it. I am now taking the fifth bot-

that I have not spent a winter as free from
coughs or pains and dlmoult breathing

If turkeys are kept at all they should
be kept properly. Instead, however, they
frequently got no attention worthy the

nually lost and not a .ow turkey eggs by
hens making their nests in far away iso-

found, except by the wily crow, skunk
or other sharp-eyed marauders, And
this loss is all the more inexcusable as is
can readily be avoided by a little ingen-
uity and judgment on the owner's part.
Ho claims to know a breeder of gttito ti

got more than'I,atf the eggs Iaid by his

draws water for house or barn, a liberal
percentage of it is forced through tho lie
tlo pipe. Another aclvantego is, that as
soon as the pumping ceases, the water
in the pump runs off and door not go
[molt into the well or freeze in the pumps.
:111 iilfi"► ii
In summer, thi iinmed'ate draining of
the pump does not allow it to soak, sour
or deoay, and its life is thus lengthened.
Tile oonnectinn betsveon pipe and cylinder
must be tight, and a little higher than
the top of tho tub. At the tub an over-
flow pipe must be fixed to carry off sur-
plus water under ground, if a muddy
place about it is not desired A combina-
tion force and lifting pump would force
water to the tub up almost any grade. -

Fat or ]Salk.
What if Prof. Collier proves, as he evi-
dently seems to hope to prove, that
the fat of foods is the measure of the fat
of milk, and since the fat of milk is an
approximately fixed percentage, really the
measure of milk production? 11 matters
little what he proves, for facts aro usu-
ally the best for humanity, lot them fall
where they will. If. however fats are the
measure of milk production, the fatty
foods are those most friendly to dairymen,
among these foods will be found cotton-
seed meal, old process linseed meal, glu-
ten meal and palm nut meal. Oats carry
a fair ratio of fat, or oats contain more
fat than porn, wheat, barley, bran, or
than most other foods than those named.
1f the fat of food determines the fat of
milk, then it is probable that a °loser
study of the fat of foods will have to be
made than has as yet been given them.
Would it follow that with foods poor In
fat, oils from cheap sources will be added
and that a balanced ration for cows will
mean in the future one containing a due
ratio of fat or a definite number of
pounds of fat daily? While we have no
expectation that fat of foods will be
shown to bo in any more than to a very
minor degree related to the amount of
fat in milk or to the milk flow, yet all
problems submitted by reputable investi-
gators should be watched and studied.
We have before'said tbat it was formerly
held that the fat in foods is the measure
of the fat in milk. and that this old view
is now very generally regarded as ex-
ploded.

Burdock Blood
Bitters. Sonic
from merchants who want to buy
it, some from people who want to
know about it, and more from
people who do know about it be --
cause they have tried it and been
cured. One of them was from Mr.
J. Gillan, B.A., 39 Gould Street,
Toronto. Read how he writes:
GENTLEMEN, -During the winter of
7892 my blood became impure on account
of the hearty food I ate in the cold
weather. ^ Ambition, energy and success
forsook me, and all my efforts were in
vain. My skin became yellow, my bowels
became inactive_ my Iiver was lumpy and
hard, my eyes became inflamed, why appe-
tite was gone, and the days and nights
passed in unhappiness and restlessness
For some months I tried doctors'
and patent medicines of every description,
but received no benefit. Being advised
bye friend to try B.B.B., I am glad to
have the opportunity of testifying, to the
marvellous result. After using three
bottles I felt much better, and when the
fifth bottle was finished I enjoyed health
in the greatest degree, and have done so
from that day up to date. Therefore I
have much pleasure in recommending B.
B.B. to all poor suffering humanity who
suffer from impure blood, which is the
beginning and seat of all diseases.
