cattle market this morning wore as follows :-

British Cattle Markets.
Johnwan & Sons (Ltd ), Edinburgh, in
their weekly report of September 27, env ;-
Supplies of fat. cattle all oyer have been much
larger. This combined with the extreordin -
ay) warm weather caused a bad trade, and
prices generally baire been from 20s to 3Us
under those of last week. There have been
large numbers or states and Cahadian cattle
on offer at Yorkhill, which met a very, bad
trade at 1s le,s money. A large ToportIon ot
those cattle were More adaptea tor keeping
than killing. There have ueen muderate sup-
plies of fat sheep 9 hero was a, good demand
anti prices had a hardening tendency. Fat
lambs .-earaer,but as the sealant is now over
there is lase inquiry for this class of stock.
Fat, calves and pigs continue to...sell at quiet
Previous prides. Store sheep were much in-
quired after and a satisfactory elearance \Yea
made. The,e were fewer store cattle on offer,
the beet deseriotione ot which continue to eel!'
well but a few cf the secondary sort we re left
unsold- Milk cows scarcer. and again met a
very bai trade. Bestbeef.88 3d; secoudary, 78
to is 6d perstone; mutton, 7 3-4 to 8 1-4 perlb.
British Grain Trade.
London; October, 7. --The 'hfarit Lane Ma-
mas in Ile 'Weekly review of the British
grain trade says ;-Dnring the past week
English wheats have been in demand, aud
have advanced 3d. 9 he condition of foreign
wheats is uncertain. Russian is up 60 and
Oalifornia is. Future shipment California is
quoted at 26e 9d. Corn has been firm. Amer-
ican future shipments' being quoted at 168.
Earley and ryd have been steady and oats dull.
To -day English wheats were in request.
Finest was quoted at 29e, ordinary new Eng-
lish reds at 25s and wbites at 26s. Boreign
wheats were weaker, and most sorts closed 60
cheaper. California was steady at 26s. Amer-
ican flour was steady, and Tinngarlan was 60
cheaper. Round corn was quiet, and flat 3d
lower.
