The Exeter Times, 1895-8-29, Page 5FootiL frie the Zilitor Owiter Times, Now,as the Eden team have had their little say we think it oUr oluty to reply etlad set the matter right. Riret ot all, We will begin by bailing the truth through - sent the whole affair, 'Which the Eden teamdi net do, but fer from it. They tated that we showed our confidence in ourselves by petting it in Tuei Tales that we had beaten them by 2 goals to 0 before we played against them which is false, it was put in the paper by an ° +outeider after we returned from Cen- tralia. We don't think it is much credit for the Eden team to put such false statements in the paper, as any person with common scenes would kinaw that they were not note. The first game of foot ball wee played on their grounds, at Devon, between a team from Fraocistown and the Eden team, which resulted in a score of' 2 'goals to 0 in favor of the latter. The 'next match was played on the same grounds, but between the Exeter team and Eden team resulting in a score of 1. goal to 0 in favdr of Exeter. Of course the Eden team could not stand 'being beaten so they came to Exeter with the intention of beating us very hadly,'but found their mistbake when the game ended by a score of 1 goal to 1. About a Week afterwards eve visit- ed them again and played another roach but on very rough grounds, at Ventrslia, which their team Were used to, and they beat us by 2 goals to 0, which they know they .cannot do on good grounds. Further, we can say that when they visited us we used them 5air and square, but when we visited theta they used us as mean as was possible. Now we think that the Eden team would do a great deal better if they had men in their team that could • ewe their boots as well as they do their tongues. The Eden team must not think that we are afraid to paly against them for money or any thing else, as e score we made on them which was • 2 goals out of 5, "leaving out the score that they made against the Francis - town teani," shows that they do not fund it pasttime to play with us. We can further say that we can plays game without half the growling that they do 4nd on good grounds can give them a little more than they want: Weth these few remarks we will end by atatiog that The man who Made up their aroticle would make a very good Bumbologiet EXETER FOOT BALL CLUB. ass, II A silent miracle worker. It is also a fact that thoee who meke the largese profits from comparatively amall investments on this plan are persons who live away frcra Chicago and inyest through brokers who thorourthly understand systematic trading.
