To- day wheats are stronger with a rise of 6 pence: Corn and barleys have risen 3 pence. Oats are dull ; peas firm and flour steady. Linseed haft dropped 6 pence. Montreal Live Stook Markets. • eeMontreal, Que., January 7.-Tbere wore 800 head of butchers' cattle, 400 sheep and lambs and a dozen calves offered for sale at th elEast End Abattoir to -day. The butchers were present in large numbers, but were iu no hurry to buy except at considerably lower prices than prevailed last ehursday and it is probable that a considerable number of com- mon cattle will not be sold to -day. There were really no choice beeves on the market to -day and a few of the best aniinals were sold at from 3.ie to 31e per pound, with pretty good stook at from aic to no and common beasts at abont 240 and the leaner ones down to 2e per pound : scrubby bulls sold at from 20 to 21c per pound, end large well-bred bulls brought from 80 to nearly 24c per pound. Mr. Bourassa paid 516 for an extra calf and from te6 to 88 for several others. Common calves told at from 83 to 86 each : mixed lots of sheep and lambs sold at from eee to 34e per sound; good lambs sold at from 33c to 40 ser pound.
