My nttUnforgetful

My favourite gift is the one
that my parents gave me for
Christmas. My father works
very hard to earn his keep,
Joyous

but he still has the time and
money to, -spend on me. My
dream was to have a horse. I
got ode. Two hundred dollars
worth of horse. I opened by
gift at Christmas, a' little
rubber animal popped out
with a card stuck to. it. It
read:
Dear Lynn,
When you have a place to
keep it, this little animal will
turn into a horse. r'

I co4ldn't believe it. Tears
came to my eyes. I believe Ft
now. He is 15.2 hands high and
is a pinto, I think Christmas is
a time to give, have a warm
, heart, and be • merry and
thankful.

In some countries
Christmas is celebrated on
different dates in different

many people celebrate
Christmas by hand earvinl
toys for the young people,
their Santa Clauses name is
Kris Krinele.
In •Denmark their Santa
Clauses name is "Jul Nisse"
a little man who lives in the
attics and tends the 'farm
animals. Before going tt bed,
the Danish children climb the
attic stairs and place a bowl
of porridge and a pitcher of
milk before the door: They
awake next morning to find, it
has been eaten.
In England on Christmas,
Eve the Yule Log is brought
inside and placed into the big
fireplace, According to
custorns, each person in the
family must sit upon the log
and salute it `'before it is
lighted to assure good luck for
the household in .the new
year.
Pocessions of carolers
;gather under the lofty arches
of great cathedrals at mid-
night on Christmas Eve to
sing the old and cherished
hymns and carols. •
In Holland in order to
provide food and water for St.
Nicks good white horse on
Christmas Eve, the little
Santa Claus developed from a
real person, Saint Nicholas.
He was a bishop of a Turkish
Town. On a Special 'Night St.
Nicholas would bring gifts to
all.
Children became so fond of
Saint Nicholas and his habit
of ' bringing gifts that the

The children are up early
on Chri tmas morning' to see
what S Nick has left them,
and they are always
pleasently -.surprised that St.
Nick has replaced the hay
and carrots with small gifts,
toys and other surprises.
Even though Christmas in
other countries is celebrated
in different ways the most
important Christmas is the
Christmas that you and your
family share,

SANTA CLAUS •
Santa Claus to me is almost ,
long forgotten. I remember
him as being a chubby .well
built fellow • He had a red hat
with white trimming and a
red suit with a shinning black
belt. Santa had eight rein -
.deer. . He ' always kept me
awake thS' night before
Christmas. I usually hung my
stocking, hoping it would be
full of goodies. Now Santa to
me is is almost an old custom.
