was in the form of a Christ-
mas Party Thursday,
December 11 at 1 p.m. in
Colborne Township Hall,
- Carlow. '
The hall, decorated for
Christmas and the tables with
lovely Christmas table
centres and the smorgasbord
table heayi.ly laden with
delicious food ,graced with a
beautiful basket of poin-
settias and with a background
of Christmas music, really
created the Spirit of Christ-
mas for this noon luncheon.
Mrs. Earl Sherwood,
president, welcomed- all
present..Evgryone sahg the
Christ -as Carol, 04. Colne All
Ye Kithful, followed,by the
Institute Grace before en-
joying the delicious meal.
While members relaxed
Mrs. Frank Mills played a
piano solo of several
Christmas carols and later all
joined itt sirtging several
carols. There was an ex-
change of gifts attic' Mrs, Wm,
Clifford acted as Santa in
passing out the gifts.
Twenty-seven members
and two visitors answered the
roll call,, "A Christmas
Poem" and the minutes of
last meeting were read and
adopted.
One of the members, Mrs,
Morgan King took the course
'Salute to Vegetables" given
by the Ministry of Agriculture
and Food and presented this,
to ' a group of,. Institute
Members last week. This was
very interesting and thanks
Was extended to Mrs, King for
her '.intst and efforts for
' the Insti ute.
Mrs. G. Ka'itting and Mrs.
Henry Brindley reported on
volunteer service in the
Library Department of
Goderich Psychiatric
Hospital last ,month, They
reported a new supply of
hooks is needed and members
were asked to bring any
hooks they did not require to
the next meeting to donate for
this work.
Mrs. R, Buchanan reported
on the., W.I. Board meeting
held at Clinton recently
giving information re
correction of 'by-law and
a'dv'ice in regard to the of-
figers' conference.
Mrs. DeGroot and Mrs.'
Ralph Jewell conducted two
contests with Mrs. Arnold
Young and Mrs. R. Brock the
winners. The treasurer's
report was encouraging and it
was- moved by Mrs. R.
Buchanan and seconded by
Mrs. Edna Moore to donate
$5000 to Salvation Army for
League of Mercy work in this
district.
ACHIEVEMENT DAY
Saturday, December 13 was
Achievement Day at
Brookside School for 4-H
Girls Tiger Dunlop Groups.
Group Np. 1 "Loafers" with
Misses Helen and Norinne
Brindley as leaders put- on a
skit, "Breads from other
Lands" and received
congratulations for their
splendid effort.
Each girl received her
spoon and Marjorie
Schoemaker received County
Honors having completed six
projects.
Tiger Dunlop Group No, 2
"Active Risers" with leaders
Mrs. Harm Kloeze and Mrs,
Gerald Feagan presented a
skit "The Staff of Life" and
were given high praise from
Home Economist Mrs. King
for a splendid presentation.
Nine girls finished the
project "Let's Bake Bread"
and received' their spoons.
Darlene Fisher of this group
also ' received County Honors
having completed six
projects,
The girls have presented
their leaders with a lovely
Poinsettia for the Christmas
season,
The next project will likely
be 'in February or early
March- but dates have not
been published as yet,

Kingsbridge 4-H Club, under
the leadership of Mrs. Evers
and Mrs, VanOsch entered
the exhibit "Rolls of Many
Shapes". Miss Johanna
VanDiepan received 4-H
County Honors for having
completed six 4-H clubs. The
presentation was made by
Miss Jane Pengilley, Home'
Economics for Huron County.
Raymond Hogan arrived
.home on Friday, December
12 after spending a two week
vacation in Mexico City,
Mexico.
Members,of the
K ingsbridgCatholic
Women's' League packed
approximately 120 boxes of
used clothing on Wednesday,
December 10. These boxes of
used clothing will be shipped
to Comberemere in the near
future.
Reverend Father Nolan of
Wingham celebrated Mass in
St. Joseph's church at
Kingsbridge on Thursday,
December 11. Grade 6
students at Kingsbridge
hosted the Mass and per-
formed the skit "The Wed-
ding Banquet". Grade 7 and 8
students from the Sacred
Heart School in Wingham
played for the folk mass.

The Goderich Police
Department reported three
accidents during the past
week that resulted in major
damage estimates,
A single car accident Dec.
10 resulted in $1800 damage to
a vehicle driven by Dennis
LeBlanc, 91 West St.
Goderich after the vehicle
struck a pole on Waterloo
Street near Lighthouse
Street. Police reported the
road conditions to be icy and
slippery. There were no in-
juries.
An.accident on The Square
Dec. 13 resulted in a total
damage estimate of $700 to
vehicles owned by Vernon
Dodds, 3 Qntario St., Clinton
and John Voskamp Jr., RR 7
Goderich. There;- were no
injuries,
An accident on Dec. 14 bn
Elgin Avenue resulted in $200
damage to a parked vehicle
owned by Reg McGee and.

Mrs. Helen MacLennan in
charge.
