NDP finalizing plans
for annual meeting
An election post-mortem
meeting was held by the
Executive of the Huron -
Middlesex New Democratic
Party in Zurich recently.
Riding President Shirley
Weary, Goderich, ceded that
much more ground is
required before any electoral
success can be experienced in
Huron -Middlesex.
"We are in a pre-election
period now," she stated, "and
any activities undertaken
must be attacked from the
point of view of preparing for
another election."
The Executive decided that
more emphasis will be placed
on finances in the coming
months as the necessary
foundation behind a vigorous
campaign.
In' discussing future ac-
tivities, the Executive
decided to conduct a series of
public meetings at centres
throughout the Riding. The
purpose will be to present the
Party to the Huron -Middlesex
electorate in . an atmosphere
that is not peryaded by the
heat of a campaign.
Paul Carroll, candidate in
the recent election stated that
attention must be devoted to
bridging the communication
gap about the NDP in this
area,
"While we have ex-
perienced a greater success
in the Province as a whole
than ever before, the one area
that stands opt as not
responding to the approaches
of the NewDemocratic Party
is Southwestern Ontario," he
said.
He c'`ontinued, "We have
obviously failed - in our
education programs. " No
where is it more apparent
than in this Riding. If our
committment is strong, then
we must begin today t
overcome this probled
Attitudes will only change
with a better understanding
of what we stand for."
• In other business, the
NDP Executive decided to
send six delegates to the
Provincial Council session
held in November.
Following the Toronto
meeting, plans are being
finalized for the Huron -
Middlesex annual meeting
which is slated to be held in
Exeter on November 24. The
guest speaker will be a
member of the NDP Caucus
at Queen's'Park.

are best suited to -freezing in

Prepare a brine solution (2
teaspoons salt to 1 quart water)
to prevent discoloration -while
slicing. Pare, quarter, core and
slice the apples into the brine.
To avoid imparting a salty
flavor to the apples, soak for
only a few minutes. Drain
before Packing.
Pack in dry sugar, using.1
