Theatre Passe Muraille's
widely acclaimed new play
about the Prairies, "The West
Show",will be presented in
Blyth Memorial Hall for one
night only on Monday,
December 1st.
Proceeds from the per-
formance will help defray the
cost of materials for the LIP
funded improvements to the
interior of the Memorial Hall.
John Diefenbaker, Tommy
Douglas and the legendary
hero, Gabriel Dumont, are
among the characters
recreated by David Fox, Eric
Peterson, Ted Johns (a native
of this area), Miles Potter,
Janet Amos, and Anne Anglin
(wife of director Paul
Thompson).

Each of these actors is well
known here for performances
in "The Farm Show" and
subsequent Passe Murail,e
productions.
John Diefenbaker saw a
special performance of "The
West Show" given in his
'honor as part of the
Saskatoon celebration of his
eightieth birthday/. The actors
alternately moved._ and
delighted the audience with
accurate and occasionally
outrageous glimpses into the
life of Mr. Diefenbaker.
A red river cart was built
for -the show by Bob Pearson,
stage manager for Theatre
Passe Muraille and, a native
of Brussels. The use made of
the cart in the production has
been described by a reviewer
as "fabulously imaginative".
"More satirically funny
than 'The Farm Show'," say
reviews from Saskatchewan,'.
" 'The West Show' catches
the many facets of life on the
Prairies from Y the Riel
Rebellion to recent farmer
demonstrations with intuitive"
understanding."
This show is fine family
entertainment, and the Blyth
performance will be the only
one in Western Ontario.
Performance time is 8:30
p.m. and tickets are $3.00 for
adults and $2.00 for children
under 14.
Advance tickets are
available by phoning Blyth

The Commission has been instructed' to. examine the long-range electric
power planning concepts of Ontario -Hydro for the period 1983=:1993 and

activities, to encourage the public to .participate in them and to invite com-
ments and questions on the manner in which the Commission should conduct
its inquiry..The Preliminary Public Meetings will be as informal as possible
and will not involve the calling of evidence orcross-examination of witnesses.
However, they swill be followed in due course by appropriate public hearings
during which there will be ample opportunity for concerned citizens to express
their views on the many aspects of electric power planning which touch and
concern every. person in this province.
