Champion graders dacedatEXPOStti0)
DRMCO's largest! grader unveiled in
: .. ,''
The international debut of
the. world's largest road
grader took place at
Toronto's International
Centre November. 5th and 6th.
Presented by Dominion
Road Machinery Co, Limited
of Goderich, Ontario, the new.
super grader was part of a
special two-day Equipment
Exposition that was attended
by more than 500 people
representing approximately'
30 countries worldwide, the
largest of its kind to be held in
Toronto this year.
The. Exposition also
featured the introduction of a
unique series of road graders
built by the firm, which
average from 26,400 pounds to
37,000 pounds.
In addition, a special
luncheon was held on
Thursday, November 6th,
with John A. MacDonald,
President of the Export
Development Corporation, as
the keynote speaker.
The "super" grader is an
80 -ton vehicle, nearly 50 -feet
long', with approximately 650
horsepower. It is 15 -feet wide
and 16 -feet high, with tires
averaging 7 -feet in height. It
.required four flat-bed trucks
to carry pieces of the grader.
to the International Centre in
Toronto for assembling by a
number of derricks and
cranes.
Yet, despite its size, the °
new machine is easily
maneuverable. This was
demonstrated as_,part of ,a
special original musical
production, "Follow the
Road," which was presented
at the Exposition on Thur
sday morning, November 6.
A highly specialized
machine, the Champion
"super" grader will have the
capacity to move tremendous
quantities of earth in a short
period of time and . can
literally build a road all bX
itself.
And, it also merits another
distinction =- it is more than
double the size of the world's
largest grader currently
listed in the Guinness Book of
World Records.
A contest gave represen-
tatives at the Exposition an
opportunity to name the new
grader which will go into
production late next year.
`.`People power is Cham-
pion's strength, states
Bruce A. Sully, President of
Dominion Road Machinery.
"Our company always
been proud of the rapport
established, between our staff
and the owners and operators
of road grading equipment.
Because of , this, the , new
series of graders introduced,
at' the Exposition have been
specially designed to permit
the customer to tailor-makea
grader that will' meet his
individual needs. Itis also one
reason why Champion is a
step ahead of the com-
petition."

10YOTAS-EVER
OLD lif CARADft' ARE Sfl
While most statistics
may be pretty boring,
we think this one
is pretty impressive..
9 out of 10 Toyotas we've.
sold in Canada in the
last tenyears are still on the
road today4 And we've
sold a lot of Toyotas. Over
the past five years we've
sold mare cars than any
p
other import car manufac-
turer -more than 250,000
of them. Arid nearly every
one of them is still on
the road.
All' of which makes us
very happy. And we're
not the only ones: Over the
past several years we've
received literally hundreds
of letters from Toyota
owners. And what they
have to say, says it all.
EROWe think our little
Toyota is terrific and
we are now Aiming
■ for 150,000 miles".
DEAR TOYOTA
19.66ToYo1Ll 700 Deluxe.
"In March 1971 when I pur-
chased my Corolla ,1.200
I had thoughts of trading it in
within twelve months -'before
_1 ran into problems'.'
The fact that 1 still have the
coir and have driven it in
excess of 106,000 miles, speaks
for itself.
Driving the number of miles
I do in a year, I am naturally
interested in economy. My
Corolla provides great mileage
while giving a ride which is
more comfortable than many
standard size cars I have driven,
having reached 106,000
miles without. problems,
I should thank you for a quality
product at a rcasonablc price":
Yours very truly,
W.L. Laird,
Keswick, Ontario.
DEAR TOYOTA:
"This is the fifth anniver-
sary of buying. our Corona
„Mark II. It was our first new car
and has taken us over 105,000
miles without any major
repairs, and is still giving us
thirty miles to the gallein of gas.
It has taken us through -
snowstorms and rainstorms
and never left us stranded:- -'
Out here on the prairies where
.winters are hitter it has started
°on the coldest of mornings.
Sincerely, -
jean and Dieter Busse,
Leduc, Alberta.
THANK YOU.
Of course we, can't
guarantee that your Toyota
. will last as long as these,.
but WC. can assure you that
if you mdi,ntain it, service
it and drive litproperly it
will last a very longtime.
Our record speaks for itself.,
Thank you Mr. Laird.
Thank you.Mr: & Mrs.- .
Bussc.Thank yogi all. We
think you're terrific.
TOYOTA COROLLA.
As well as performing and
lasting ljl a taioper, our
Tpyota Corolla comes with a.
nice long list.of extras that you
wdn't find on Pinto, Vega or
Chcvcttc. Electric rear window
defrostcr,:powcr front disc
brakes and adjustable, fully
reclining bucket scats are
standard equipment. And sur-
prisingly, the Toyota Corolla
1200 costs less than Pinto,Vega
or Chevette.
And this is why Toyota
Corolla (in 1200 or 1600 models)
is the top selling madef in the
world and why Toyota is the
• number one import in Canada.
