Crediton OBITUARY.— One of the oldest residents of this village, in the person ot Matthew • Guinter, sr, died last week. The deceased came frora Baiersbroun, Germany, about 25 years age. He has been an industeioua, henest, good thinking man, by trade he was a weaver and minion, and,, he followed Loth occupations here for years. He lived to the ripe age of 85 years and 7 months. The old gentle- man was never sick of any COnSeqllenCe until la grippe attacked him some time ago and from which he never finally recovered, he gradually vvaated away and his ailment was simply old age, and the machinery beoame worn out. The funeral was largely attend- ed by a number of friends; and re- lative. The remains were interred le the German cemetery. The funeral sermon was performed by Rey.
