Ontario- corn shipped
abroad from Goderich
By Bev Clark
Close to two million bushels
of Ontario corn will be
`shipped from the port of
Goderich to Bale Comeau,
and from there will be loaded
into ocean-going ships to -be
taken abroad. - ,
"This is the first time that
Oritario corn has been
shipped in this manner" said
George Parsons, president of
Goderich Elevator and
T
ransit.
One million, seven hundred
thousand bushels of corn have
already been loadedonto'the
boats in Goderich..

and other North Anferican
equipment manufacturers.
Mr. Sulley sites the rapid
growth of the company and
his plans for expansion as his
main , reason for appointing
this group of senior
executives to the Group
Policy Committee.
One of the new areas of
jumping the, gun. Certainly,
Russia does buv Canadian
corn, there's nothing unusual
about that, but so 'do a lot of
other countries," said Mr.
Parsons.
Huron County's corn crop
has been exceptional this
year, yielding 20 to 25 per ,
cent above average. The
.average yield is about • 80
bushels per acre. This year
there were a lot of 100 bushels
per acre and some county
fields yielded' up to 140
bushels.
Corn not being shipped" out
of Canada for export is sent to
starch companies, along the
St. Lawrence.
expansion is to be a
manufacturing facility in
Owensboro, Kentucky,
scheduled for production in
1976. The addition of this
plant will double the com-
panies' output within five
years.
This increased production
is required to meet market
demands through the com-
panies' network of dealers in
fifty-five countries.
