Candle ceremony
. North Street United ,Church was the scene of a can-
dlelight wedding service on September 26 for Debra Lynn
Parsonage and Rick Ernest Powell. The Rev. Ralph King
,solemnized. the double ring ceremny.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. -Merle Parsonage of
Goderich and the groom -is theygn of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Powell of Goderich.
• The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Gene
McMullen of Feversham, Ont.
. The bride's gown was of white polyester crepe with a
lace bodice and a full train. Her headpiece was a
rhinestone tiara with"a shoulder -length veil. She carried
'a 'nosegay of red roses and white carnations.
The maid of honour was Susan Parker, cousin o,f the
bride. The bridesmaids were Sheri Parsonage, sister of
,th,e bride, and Helen Williams, cousin of the bride. Lisa
Phi-il1ips was junior bridesmaid and Lori Phillips was
flowergirl, both cousins of the bride.
They wore blue polyester crepe full length gowns with
scoop, necklines. They carried blue tinted daisies , and
pink rosebuds, -with matching blue ribbons in their hair.
The groomsman was Harvey Bererling, friend offthe
groom. Ushers were Dennis and Gary Powell, brothers of
the groom, and. David Parker,,cousin of the bride.
They wore blue oxford styled jackets with , black
trousers with blue ruffled shirts and black velvet bow
ties. The groom wore a red rosein his lapel and the at-
tendants wore white carnations.
The. wedding reception was held in Saltford Valley
Hall, where John Phillips, uncle of the bride was master
of ceremonies,
The guests were received by • the mother of `the bride
• who wore a pink coral full-length gown with a corsage of
coral tinted mums. The groom's mother chose a wine
two-piece floor length gown with a corsage of red tinted
mums. •
For travelling the bride wore a denim patchwork
pantsuit.
The couple is residing at 44 Anglesea Street., Goderich.
Guests were present from Kitchener, Faversham,`
Collingwood, Toronto, Barrie, Zurich, Hensall, Goderich,
• and Dundalk.

St. John the Evangelist Anglican church, London, was
the setting on Saturday, September 27, at 5 p.m. for the
double -ring ceremony uniting in marriage .Christina,
daughter of Mr.. and Mrs. Harold Shore, Goderich„and
Richard, son of Mr. and Mrs: Harry Doas, San Fernando,
Trinidad.
Rev. Terrance Finlay . officiated at the ceremony.
Music was provided by the organist Mr. Ivar Brake.
The alta_• held vases of white mums and•candelabra.'
The bride chose a floor -length chantilly•lace'gown with
bishop sleeves of sheer"andchantilly lace, fashioned with
pink guipure trim accenting the c`uff's"; collar, bodice and
hemline. Her headdress was an open crown beaded Juliet
cap from which fell an elbow -length illusion blusher veil.
Her jewellery was an amethyst necklace worn by her
grandmother on her wedding day, the gift from the
,, groom, sixty-one years ago; also a gold, linked hand
made bracelet, a gift from the groom's mother. She.
carried a bouquet of pink sweetheart roses, pink car-
nations and.baby nriu.ms.
The bride was attended by her sister Pat, dressed in a
floor -length gown of mint green chiffon over satin
featuring a high neckline, empire waistand short puff
sleeves with a trim of white, daisy embroidered lace. Her
headpiece was of 'matching green chiffon and lace
streamers. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and
yellow baby mums.
The .groomsman was Ram Beckhoo of Pembroke, a
. friend of the groom. Usher was Gary Sgisires, London,
The wedding reception was ••held at The Butagalo,
Lambeth. Master of Ceremonies was William 'Riley,
London, a cousin ofmthe family of thct bride.
Honoured guests were Mrs. Dan McDonald "i wart,
Ont., the bride's grandmother; and Mrs. Cynthia
Walker; Toronto, sister of the groom.
The bride's mother selected a floor -length gown of
deep pink polyester with lace covering the bodice and
sleeves. She wore white carnations as her corsage.
For travelling to the East Coast the bride wore a mint
green knee-length styled polyester dres, white coat and
'navy accessories,
Guests were present from Toronto, Ridgetown, Duart,
Pembroke and Goderich.
Prior to her Marriage the bride was honoured at a
surprise shower at the home of Mrs, Dianne Blundell
assisted by Miss Sharon Riley, cousins of the bride, both
of London.
, The bride and groom are residing in London.

Oakville, speaking on the
topic, "Let there ,be no un-
certain sound," The music of
Goderich Teen Tones under
the”, leadership of Mrs. D.
Stewart was much enjoyed by
all. Lunch was served in the ,
basement afterwards for
those who could stays for a
social hour. •

Pentland, Mrs.. Robt. Irvin,
Dungannon United Church is
also looking for a caretaker.
The Explorer group meets
on ,,,Monday at 7 p.m. in
Sunday School room.
Mrs. Bessie McNee and
Mrs. Alma Black spent a.
couple of days last week in St.
Thomas attending the London
Area Convention of the
Womens' Institute. There
were about 350 ladies in at-
tendance for this interesting
and informative convention.
They were also taken on a bus
trip to 'a museum Gln St.
Thomas.

Park called on friends in the
village last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kidd
of Georgetown came up on

Margaret's mother, Mrs.
Jack Ryan, home with them.
She had spent the summer in
her home here.
Sympathy is extended to
family and friends of George
Caldwell who was killed in
Goderich in a harness horse
collision on Friday at the
town Agricultural Park.

few days last week with Pat's

birth of a baby son at
Goderich Hospital last week.

Lucknow spent a few days at
the home of her sister Amy,
Mrs. Bill Wiggins sand Mr,
Wiggins. Mrs. Wiggins and
her daughter Marion, Mrs.
Warrington of Vancouver
spent a few days in Detroit.

The roll call for meeting
seven was "Name a use' for
bread other then for tqast or
sandwich." Press reporter
and secretaryfor this week is
Darlene,, Austin.
For demonstration the girls
made Italian bread Sticks
which were eaten at the close
of the , meeting. They were
good but some got a little
burnt.
For discussion - each girl
read her idea for a skit for
Achievement day. It was
agreed that Debbie Austin's
was the best, and she got to
pick the parts to be played.
The questions on the,
discussion sheet were an-
swered and blanks filled in.
The girls agreed to have
another meeting to check the
books and work on the skit.

The Dungannon,United
Church Women et on
Tuesday, October 14 in the
church basement, one week
ahead of usual meeting time
on account of Fall ,Rally in
Ho1'mesville on October 21.
Dorothy Pentland opened
the devotional. Marjorie
Pentland read many short
and familiar passages , of
scripture from here and there
in the Bible.
Dorothy Pentland kindly
agreed to repeat her well-
prepared topic of Bible Study
for this meeting due to so
many being unable to attend
the July meeting when she
gave it first.
• The collection was received
and dedicated. Marjorie
Pentland gave a prayer.
Tina Logtenberg chaired
the business part of the
meeting. ' She asked for a
moment of silence in memory
of Audrey Hasty and then
gave a very fitting prayer.
Seventeen members an-
severed the roll call with gifts
for - the Cancer Cupboard.
Minutes were read and ap-
proved and correspondence
was presented.
This' group was asked to
look after afternoon
devotional for the Fall Rally
at , Holmesville. Some
volunteered to look after this.
A motion was made to make a
donation to CNIB.
.Helen Dawson read the
treasurer's report. Emily
Drennan gave a report on
what is needed for the next
bale -and all contributions are
to be left in the furnace room
in church bas.,ement by
Sunday, October 26.
A letter was read from
Alma School of St,' Thomas
urgi5g the ladies -to buy
baking bags which they are
selling to raise money for the
school.
It was decided to give a
donation to Explorers to buy
craft material.
Olive Blake gave her report

This was followed by a solo

Pearson and Emma Riven 'as
Hostesses.
