How bitter it is • whole day for me, light was . to attain the long sought for key shed on my path and I was able and find it doesn't bring the to go winging on my way to expected happiness after all. Christ is the key who opens men and women to their full capacity. It is only as we open up to Him that our livestakeon their proper perspective. It is only as we allow His light .to shine in on our lives that we are, able to see our true. potential, and also to 'see our mistakes. Rufus Moseley has said,- "God does not turn the light on our failures to hurt us but to help us.„ We really do not have to wear ourselves out searching for the' key to our lives. Christ holds it out tp us, we have only to reach out and take it. Dr. George Goth says church like boneless bird. Are contemporary Christian churches comparable to "boneless chicken cooked in cream sauce'?” • According to Dr. George .Goth of London, guest speaker 'at the Kirkton-Woodham United Church service recently, the churches today hake failed society by trying to keep up with the changing fads of the period. , Dr. Goth accused churches of giving, up principles and ben- ding with the times when it should be standing strong and firm to provide an'"oasis",for' those seeking something stable in our society. "The 'church must be the conscience of society," said Dr. Goth, "And the church must be the judge of society.'" Rather than backtread or remain si - nt on an issue, the Christian/church should stand up and state that something is._ wrong, if indeed it is wrong, said the outspoken, London minister., He accused "the inheritors of Christian civilizationY.. of dropping the atomic bot ib, a wrong which killed or i olmed • hundreds of thousands, "It wasn't the Bolsheviks, it wasn't the Nazis, it wasn't the Japanese, it was the Christian countries, and it was wrong," stated Dr. Goth. He attacked the liquor trade as being a greater curse and cause of death and suffering than all the wars of mankind and all the drugs ever dealt illeg4ily. "And -yet we not only legalize the liquor trade," said Dr. Goth, '`But the very people who exploit people in this way are heralded as great benefactors to mankind on the front pages of our newspapers." , • Dr. Goth concluded that the church must distinguish bet- ween right and wrong, between truth and untruth, and take an. unwaivering stand despite public opinion at the time. He admitted that this might make the church unpopular with some but suggested that in the end, the church will be standing solidly on its' foun- dations when needed as a respite by a sick and decadent society.
