MR. AND MRS. IAN MACADAM
Honeymoon at Frills
St. George's Anglican Church in Goderich was decorated with
candelabra covered in yellow mums and white ribbons on
September 13 when Susan Powell and Ian MacAdam exchanged
vows and rings.before Canon G.G. Russell.
,The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Powell,
Goderich. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bert
MacAdam, also of Goderich.
Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a floor -
length white princess -lined gown with a cathedral veil and a
trailing bouquet of stephanotis, orchids and ivy. •
Bridesmaids Kathleen McCreath; Debbie MacAdam, sister of
the groom; .Barb Britnell; and Vicki Powell, sister of the bride
wore forest green princess styled gowns with matching jackets
and carried flower balls of yellow mums.
Flower girl Inga Sigurdson,,Goderich, was gowned identically
to the senior attendants but carried a flower ball of white mums
tied with green ribbon.
Groomsman was Jim Denomy, Goderich. Ushers were Jim
Schram,. the groom's brother David 'MacAdam and Terry
Paterson. The men wore brown jackets and trousers and yellow
ruffled shirts with brown velvet ties.
Green vases filled with yellow mums on the tables at the
reception in Goderich Memorial Arena set the decor. The
bride's, mother wore a pale blue floor -length nylon gown with'
matching jacket and a corsage of bronze mums. The groom's
mother chose a turquoise silk floor -length gown with a corsage
of pink mums.
Mr. and Mrs. MacAdarn honeymooned 'in Niagara Falls, the
bride travelling in a rust floral full-length gown with a corsage
of orchids. "�
They are living at RR 2, Goderich.
Telegrams of congratulations were received from England by
the newlyweds. They also received silver horseshoes as they left,
the church to begin their married life.
Prior to the marriage, the bride was feted at showers given by
Michele Cook, Rosemarie Lassaline, Julianne MacKenzie, Barb
Britnell, Kathleen McCreath, Mrs, Willie Pederson and Mrs.
Steve Argyle. .
A pre -wedding dinner • was given for both sets of parents by
Mr. and Mrs. David Powell, a Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. D.B.
MacAdam, parents of the groom, hosted a rehearsal buffet prior
to the wedding.
Kneaders name committee
The third meeting of the Knifty
Kneaders was held at the home of
Mrs. Evers. •
Eight members answered the
roll call. The next meeting is on
October 6 at Mrs. van Osch's
place.
The girls discussed the dif-
ference between batter bread and
white bread. They named a
committee for Achievement Day
to look after the exhibits there.

Conestoga won't close
Clinton Centre now

Brian Cook, chairman' of
Conestoga . college, Clinton
Centre, announced Friday to
members of Huron County
Council that the facilities at
anastra will not be closed as
as feared.
"There is no doubt the college
wi continue in operation in
Huron County," Mr. Cook said.
"We are not as seriously off as
we originally . thought and I
don't expect a change in
geographical , location or
operation."
Rumor of the college
facilities locating elsewhere in
the county were not untrue in
' the past. Mr. Cook suggested
• alternative 'facilities had been
sought, but were unavailable
either in Clinton or Goderich.
The college is providing a
valuable educational role in the
county, Mr. Cook told council.
He said in' the past year, Clinton
Centre had graduated 10'. from
secretarial programs; 10 from
cashier -teller courses ; 12
certified visiting homemakers;
80 from ' 40 --week courses in
academic upgrading and
commercial; and 103 others in
continual education courses
such as accounting, real estate,
interior design etc.
Looking to the future,

hopes to offer machine shop
and welding courses next year.

"Mrs. A. Holmes, vice=
president, presided at the
October meeting, of the Goderich
Branch Of the Women's Institute.
Sixteen members answered the
roll call - A tarim experience - by

amusing times.

Invitations to Auburn W.I. Fun'
Night on October 21 at 8 p.m. in
the • community hall and to
Clinton W.I. meeting on Thur-
sday October 23, at 2 p.m. were
heard.
Plans for delegates to attend
the Huron County Rally, on
October 6, at Belgrave and the
Annual Convention at St,
Thomas, October 15 and 16, were
finalized. There was an an-
nouncement of a card party to be
held' November 20 in MacKay
Hall.
Mrs. A.B. Straughan,
Agriculture and Canadian
Industries Convener, presented.a
paper of current events. She told,
of the mines in the North she
yisited, while holidaying making
special mention of the silver mine .
at Cobalt, and the Moosonee .�
District.
A penny sale proved most
successful.
Mrs. Holmes closed the
meeting, after which •a dainty
lunch was served.
