THIS WEEK'S
CLUB
ROnnie Varga.....
(continued from page 11)
thatsa Soccer!!
I could go on and on about the
high quality of soccer, savvy
and steadiness, of your team
and - it would sound grossly
exaggerated... but believe me,
it's the straight goods when I
lay on the praise. United shone
like they otighta because
they've got the talent. Keep on
sockin', boys... you belong on
i
• to Many thanks to the fans who
trekked down to encourage the
team in 'St. Thomas... their
rootin' and ravin' was also 9f a
very high calibre!- You're the
best, fans! There's one young
lady who will never, be awarded
a "Rowdy Rooter" because she
is never rowdy,or ttntd, but she
is staunchly loyal to Goderich
United and can always be
spotted on the sidelines, quiet
and intent. Helen MacDonald,
isone of our "sweeties"... a
really great gal who deserves r`
credit for her own special
brand of rooting! (Actually,
she makes the rest of us look
like freaked -out cheerleaders!)
Now, back to the guys:
Firstly, "the Player -of -the -
Day" is Harold Refflinghaus
who set up numerous inventive
plays and performed with
expertise and quick-wittedbess.
"Danke", Harry! "Sportsman -
of -the -game" is "the Dude",
Dave Graf... he put out one
hundred percent and . was, an
added bonus on the forward
line.. His dexterity is forever an
amazef'nent!
This week's "Super Jock" is
old "Mighty Mouth" himself:
little Rolf Gottschalk!' His
presence on the field was
strong, decisive and he com-
pletely nullified any and all
opponents.
The "Showmanship Award"
goes out with a awe, to "the
General",i 'Howie Gottschalk
.who was Uncaring and „itn-
fearing of personal safety and
dove, crawled and tumbled
himself inside out to keep the
Goderich zone safe from in-
trusion. Wouldn't it be quicker
and simpler just to step in front
of a speeding train, Horst??
"Foxy Specials" go out to
Clare Sager and Pete Teichert
who were especially supportive
and produced some super plays
and defensive moves.
Love y'all, United! !
k -r
Last .week's Police Falcons
game against the London
Hungarian 'B's ended in a 4-2
win for the Falcons. Great eh?
Mike Sully started off the
gcoring sweepstakes with Brian
McKenzie following suit and
Rick "the Toe" Fisher whip-
ping two fab goals on the op-
position. They played a' fast -
paced and steady ,J. h and
their confidence' was ent in
each play. .
Pete Herlufsen is an un-
deniable asset on the defense
line and he's a true team man.
Way to be '43's" ! They play
