beautiful as they change their
colors - but we are several
weeks behind the colors north
of us, so any day, now, is a„good
time to make that color tour.
Last year many of the tours
were a week or so too late,
Have you noticed that lovely
tree at the corner of South St.
and Elgin Ave. lately? I have
talked about this tree so often,, I
feel just everyone must take
notice of it, every day, thru' all
its phases and enjoy it as much
as I. Anyway - the tree is now
getting lighter in color each
,day. Last ,week it was a very
'dart blue-green, soon it will be
a rusty color then a light
warm beige - the way it starts
out in the Spring. Have you
ever noticed that?
You could almost take Spring
and Fall photos of this tree and
compare the colors as they
come and go. I think it is fan-
tastic the way it goes from light
to almost' purple black and
back again to light each year. It
is a tree you can't help noticing
since from each end of Elgin
Ave. looking from East or from
West - this huge dark tree
stands out from all the plain
green along the avenue.
With the great summer of
sunshine and rain we are bound
to have beautiful fall colors
outstanding coloring - better
than in -many many years`- and
I hope I'm right in this
prediction. ..4, •
There are so many trees right
now• that -are a brilliant red and
a beautiful green - on the same •
tree, they are breath taking.
There's no way you could catch
that on canvas.
'The folks who are getting
ready for their sojourn in the
warm countries for the winter
are just soaking up mental
pictures of these fall colors -
Isn't„ it nice .that we can all
recall. the nice things of life
when we relax and let the mind
wander?
This sort of leads us into Fall
and Winter activities. I know
You are all thinking about night
classes - "What are they having
and what do I want to do?”
This year they.,have a:,great
winter planned - over 30 classes,
with some 20 weeks, 10 'and 5
week classes. AND the price
hasn'tchangect!
October 6 is GO, GO, GO nite
at G.D.C.I. and make sure you
are there before 7:30. So many
want to wander in late - but just
remember, you foul up the
teacher and the rest of the class
because it takes more than 15
minutes for everyone to settle
down, and get ready to start the
evening.
So Do TRY this year to be
there at 7:15 and give the whole
school a better chance t®• do'
more in two short hours.
'Monday nite finds beginners
sewing, beginners bridge,
beginners? - anyway - a typing

one I think sounds great is the
course for the wife and hubby
on electricity in the hoiue I"llis
just has to cover a great many
interesting things since about
all we know now is how to push
a plug into the socket.
There are several of the
regular Monday nite classes
repeated - - ' like art,
photography, geography, speed
reading, law, learning the
metric system which is • a
MUST, 'sports -- and I've
probably,mi,ssed one or•two.
Tuesdays,. a drawing class,
another class in sewing, wood
-working and something a great
many parents will enjoy is a
class for coaches and parents of
the hockey players which our
Dick Madge will conduct.
Wednesday there will be
advanced sewing and Thursday
a stretch sewing class and a
Judo class.
In January a new group of
classes - I mean you can con-
tinue 'your' classes but new
students may start, This is
when a ceramics class will get
underway.
There will be a complete list
soon for these classes' so
register right away as this
gives them a chance to get
extra teachers if needed - also if
enough of you make up your
minds right away there might
be • classes on nights most
convenient for you.
You can check on any of this
at `G.D.C.I. - and leave your
