"Through' singing, playing\
piano, and trumpet, I have
found my way of expressing the
love, of Jesus far everyone.
Jesus is the only hope for the
world. I' ye accepted Him as my
Saviour and as you listen to the
joy Jesus has brought to me, I
pray .you will discover Him
too.'
Sara Dale Martin began
singing Gospel music at the age
of ten with her brother and
sister. 'The trio sang .together
for five years. At that point in,
time, Sara Dale, her parents
and brother moved to Orillia,
forty miles from her sister. The
distance °whioh..yseparated the
members of the trio created
difficulties in establishing
practice time and so the trio
dissolved. Sara Dale continued
her musical studies in voice,
...to make. sure qualified voters have
been correctly included on the
Ontario list of voters.
Revision of the Ontario list of voters
- for changes and additions ends in
the Ren,rning Office, Wednesday,
September 10 at 9:00 p.m. EDT.
If you have not been enumer-
ated, or you have found your
nariie has been omitted from` the
list of voters, or there is an'error on
it, contact the Returning}'Officer
of your Electoral District.
If you live in a rural area;-
and,are qualified to vote, fir's
much easier if your name is
on the list of voters. And
there's still time to get on
that list. However, qualified
rural voters, not on the list b'y
Election Day, may still vote by having
a friend or neighbour on the same list
"vouch' for them on.oath.

w regulates'election finances?
The ( omnission on Election Contributions and
Expenses is -a group of people responsible to,the
'Legislature for the supervisibn and 'enforcernent of the
new Election Finances Reform Act The Act makes
pro'iision for the province, to pay certain amounts
' r towards the ,expenses of the candidates You are there;,
fore, through your taxes, taking part in every election
and you should be fully informed The Commission are
the people who will keep you.informed
Mhat are the main objectives of the
new Legislation? '
Firstly, to limit the amount .which any person, corpora-
tion, or union may contribute to any political party,
6nd'so, remove the possibility that wealth may influ-
ence any government or party in its policies, Secondly,'
to provide for disclosure to the public of those who
contribute and the amount of.their contributions
Furthermore, you may clairrt a tax benefit for
contributions.
when can,a contributor give?
A contributor can give at anytime, but is limited in the
amount he or she can give. The breakdown is as
follows:
•
In any year, any,.person, dompany,' or union may„Con-
tribute up to $2000 to ,each provincial party They
may also. contribute up to $ 500 to any constituency
association, but their total contributiohs to all consti-
tuency associations of the same party..may not, exceed
During a campaign period, that is, from the day the
election is --called to four months after Election Day,
individuals, companies and unions are permitted
to make extra 'contributions They may give up to an
"additional $ 2000 to'a provincial party, and°they may
contribute up to $500 to any candidate as long as
their total contribution to all candidates of the same.
party does not exceed $ 2000

people in it By controlling the amounts that can be
spent. on 'media advertising, it will help make political
contests more even across Ontario

Candidates and Parties?

The Election`Finances Reform Act will' bring the
financing'of all ()piano campaigns out into the open.
You will be able to see how much each candidate
received, and how much was spent If any candidate
fails to follow the.xegulations involved, he or she can -
be fined or barred from running in the next election, or
even have to give up their'seat in the Legislative '
Assembly
The Comm ssion will publish, in the local papers: a .
summary of the total amounts each candidate rid
and spent A list of harries and addresses of everyone
who donated more than $100 to the campa49ns will
be 'available to you at the Commiisio.n's offices.
Both .individuals and corporations can claim a tax
benefit that will partially offset the costs of your con-
tribution. This will reduce the amount of Ontario tax
which contributors have to pay, and is quite separate
from the credits allowed for -contributions to federal
political parties.,
The table below shows the tax credit available to
viduals° REMEMBER—thi,s'is a tax credit—not just a
.deducti'on' You can deduct it from the actual Ontario
tax you would have to pay, not, just from your taxable
income
Total Contributions Maxim°um Credit Calculations
Credit
up to.S 100 $ 75 75% of contribution
$ 101 to $ 550 S 300 S 75 plus 50% of the
amount over 5100

more than $550 $500* the amount `over
•
$550
•
'the maximum credit of $500 is reached when total contribuhd'Ss in the
year amount to S1150
If your total contribution to al/ registered parties,°con-
stituenc.y 'a4sociatiorls and candidates is less than
$100, you .can'ciaim a fax credit of 7 5 % of the
amount -contributed
'• This allows you to'make fund-raising contributions at a
relatively small cost to yourself
The tax benefit for corporations works somewhat
differently It permits companies to make limited
deductions from, the Ontario portion of their jaxable
income .
Remember no individual or company can claim a tax
benefit resulting from their contrtb, utibns unless they
produce an official receipt for the amount contributed.
These receipts are supplied by the Commission to can-
d/Jdates and party officials +'
Further infortnation is available by writing to the
Commission at 151 Bloor Street West,
