Pl�yground staff ends busy,ucesfuI summer
Luring the hectic summer
vacation period when children
become bored and restless, a
mother's best Mend r isthe_
town's playgrounds ff.
The six talented young people
working the playgrounds• this
year offered youngsters bet-
ween the ages of six and 12 a
variety of indoor and outdoor
activities over the six week
duyation of the program. This
marks the last week of ac-
tivities offered by the
playground staff,,
Next week Playgrounds '75
will operate a day camp, at"
Point Farms Provincial Park
from NJtnday to' Friday. The
camp's program will' involve
orienteering, games, hikes,
crafty: swimn__ ming _and other _
related camping activities
including a sleepout, The
children will be bussed to,and
from the camp,
The playground staff in-
cludes Roberta. Hays; Nancy •
Needham, Sheila Montgomery,
and Marva Jackson who have
been with the ."staff for two
years and Jed DeJong who
joined the staff this summer.'
The group works under the
supervision of "'Linda Carman

MEMORIAL SERVICE
A, good crowd gathered, at
Colborne Cemetery, Sunday
afternoon, August 10 tor the
memorial service, Friends and
relatives •had gathered to pay.
tribute to the departed and the
• many flower -marked graves
,showed the love and high
esteem they had for those who
"had gone before.
Doug McNeil, Reeve of
Colborne; spoke appropriate
words to the' people • that were
gathered. Several . musical
selections were furnished by
the McMillan Family as well"as
'providing the accompaniment
for the hymns.

the message for the service;
with the'text "Christian Hope
"If Christ- had. riot risen, our
Hope would be dead, -but let us
strive to do good to others to be"
true Christians, and rejoice:and
be glad of our Christian hope,"

the side of the road overnight as
this, could 13e• a danger to
motorists and also encourage
vandalism.

There has been a revival of
interest in,. the skills, arts 'and
crafts of yesteryear. Bread -
making has,,, become • in-
creasingly popular and because
of this, a new project developed
called' "Let's Bake Bread."
Club members will. learn the
techniques 'of making. bread
and rolls. A varietypf recipes is
included for homemade breads.
