There must be a great deal of thought and study behind the proclamation, an intensity • of prayer and , meditation, an understanding of ..people's needsand•requirements. Many climb aboard a dogmatic workhorse and drive said workhorse for all it is worth:. believe tliis! believe that! be4ieve (esserrtially) what 1 tell you! The preacher -can c,an be cruel; he can be' lacking • in all those human facets that should bring pastoral kindness: he can be far out on a limb where he imagines he ,is riding his own favorite hobbeyhor'se. Preachers .are generally' 'egotists; -trey ofti Ines feel, that they , are • more than representatives of'God; in fact, God Himself!
