At Wednesday's (August 8)
sitting of the Ontario `Energy
Board, which is reviewing
Ontario Hydro' s 1976 wholesale
rate proposals, Chairman W,W
Stevenson. said the Board is
prepared to continue into
September to complete the
case. •
Pr. Stevenson said the Board
intends to hear evidence until
August 22, then adjourn for., a
week to write an interim report
to the Ministerof" Energy,
before the required date of
August 31:
"The Board intends, to
reconvene the hearings on'
September 2 to hear the
evidence of interveners at that
time and argument. If
necessary, the Board intends to
sit, both mornings, and af-
ternoons thereafter to ensure

Mr. and Mrs. Fluet are two of
Canada's modern -thinking
young couples who have thrown
caution to the wind for a time
and are travelling for a whole
year before settling.down again
to jobs and homemaking. They
sold all their belongings in
Vancouver` where they • had
been living and headed out for
an adventure in their home-
away-fro'm-home van.
When they arrived 'in
Goderich last Thursday, they
had a'l'ready been from coast to
cdast in Canada, They came
here to visit a nursing school .
classmate of Edie's but were
also casing South Western
Ontario for a place to -locate
once their roaming has ended.
"This ifi:..the only place in
Canada we've received such a
' warm welcome," ` Reg ad
mated. "And it is truly a,,.
beautiful town. It may be just
the spot for us."
Mr. and Mrs. Fluet, .along
withtheir .hosts fr rn the
Tourist Commission. Bert
Squires and Judy Langridge,
enjoyed lunch ^ at the Can-
dlelight Inn as guests of the
management. Then they had a
complete tour of the com-
niunity including the harbor,
the town's major 'industries,
The Square, the golf club; the
municipal airport, the
hospitals, as .much , of the
residential area as possible and
eve''9-y scenic -vantage, point in
town. '
Reg,, a. heavy machinery
engineer and amateur dicer,
was impressed by -the '
Dominion Roads Machinery
Co. plant "and` ,the .underwater
secrets of Lake Huron. Edie, a
nurse, remarked on the setting
and size of Alexandra Marine
and General Hospitaras well as
the scope of Goderich
Psychiatric Htyspital. '
Both visitors mentioned time,.
and again about the trees in
Goderich, the number of small
well -kept parks and` corners
and the variety of opportunity :

The Huron County Pioneer
Museum -anlpd the Huron
Historic Jail -Were of particular
interest to 'the....F-lues, They
heartily -1 endo�rsPd the
preservation of Huron's unique
history at the museum (which
they felt 'was unusually large
and well maintained for the
area in which it is situated) and
expressed admiration for the
efforts of interested citizens
wha rnanaged to save the jail
from the wreckers.

in the north -south division at
the Aug. 5 meeting of the
Goderich Bridge Club with
'seven tables in play.
Eleanor Erskine and Mary
Donnelly matched skills with A.
Weerasooriya and Lee Ryan as
both teams scored'a total of 97
points. Verna Worthy and Jo
Shrier • settled for second place
with a point tbtal of 861/2. s'
- The bridge club entertained a
number of visitors at the
meeting and the guests
promptly dominated the east
west section of play. Mr. and
Mrs. R. "Miller won the com-
petition with 99 points while Mr.
and Mrs. William Sutherland
took second' place with 921/2
points. Mr. and Mrs: CfoHodgins
settled for third spot with 901/2
points.

For the average residential
customer served by a
municipal utility, the new
, proposal wouId, mean an in-
crease of $2.50 on a monthly
bill.
The change in the proposals
came as a result of several new
factors deferring the
collection of deficits ac-
cumulated by municipal and
industrial custi9mers; reducing
th'e system expansion com-
ponent- in 'the cost of power;
