It was an'encouraging crowd
that assembled' at the
.Dungannon Fair. Grounds on
Saturday, August 9 for the
Dungannon 4-H Calf Club Show.
It started with the Colborne
Township Reeve Doug. McNeil
giving the opening ,speech of
welcome and 'words Of 'en-
couragement to the bdys and
, girls of the Calf Club. Reeve of
Ashfield, Warren Zinn also
spoke words of welcome and
praised the boys and girls for
their interest and efforts. "

Members are boys and girls
12-18 yers from Ashfield and
Colborne 'townships. A keen
'interest has been shown. There
was a good showing of calves in
the dairy and beef classes and
awards or' trophies and prizes
(ribbons) were given for
showmanship and quality' and
type of calf. o
The judging got under way
without delay. With Len.
McGregor, Huron's Assistant
Agriculture Representative
acting as Master of Ceremonies
and "'Glynn Cbughlin,
AtwoOd ,judging the dairy
calves and Gordon Crow, RR6
Guelphjudging the bpef calves,
there. was a steady flow of
members. With their calves. into
the judging circle.
The first judging results were
.for showmanship, and it. was
interesting to . see hOw the
young members could manage
their calf in the ring.
