BY ROB SHRIER
Kevin , Dykstra is a shy,
blonde 14 -year-old , with a
special artistic talent. The son
of Harry and Marla Dykstra, he
was recognized by a national
board of judges for his ability in
crafts and jewelry making in
the Grade 8 class. This includes
entries from all of Canada, and
the work of the"winners will be
•exhibited at the Canadian
National Exhibition.
The article which won him an•"
honorary mention and a cheque
for $5; was a cross, made out of
bent horseshoe nails wrapped
in brass wire and held together
with copper rings. It is simple,
but very good looking, and very
well made.
Kevin got the idea for his
work from his uncle who works
with sheet metal and is an
amateur artist. He comes from
a family of artists, on his
mother's 'side. Mrs. Dykstra is
right at home -with an easel,
and his grandfather creates

He had . entered the contest
last year without success, but`
