Goderich wins .64
over Chesley Club
Rori Sowerby succeeded in a
pick off move to first to 'nab
Chesley's ninth inning lead
runner and seal the Goderich
Juvenile victory '6-3 Sunday.
Sowerby, on the mound for the
full game; .had already struck
out 2.1 Chesley batters. giving up
only ten hits and a walk.
Chesley opened the §coring in
the bottom of the first inning
with' one run on two hits.
Goderich came back with' two
runs in the second .and added
four in the third to lead 6-1.
Sowerby held Chesley hitless
until the eighth when they
stored their final two runs.
Pat Conlon, Jim Watt and
Ron Sowerby led Goderich
offensively with two hits each
and Lee Arbour, Pete Vogt and
Brian Meriam.tagged one each.
Chesley returns to 'Goderich
for a rematch this Sunday at
9:30.

In a pitching duel between
Stan ' Doherty of Gord's and
Mark Dauphin of Lakeport
Dauphin came away 'with the
win. Both hurlers gave up only
four hits and Doherty struck
out 10 and Dauphin nine. Gord's
errors made the difference in
the outcome of the game.
In the first inning Wane
Fisher drew a walk and scored
on an error when Wayne
Draper was at the plate. In the
Gord's left runners on second
and third in the sixth inning and
finally managed in the final
stanza to put one across. Stan
Doherty singled and scored on
Bob Riehl's single. Riehl
stretched his hit to a double
when the . Steelers made the
play on Doherty but Dauphin
struck out Dez Courtney to kill
the threat and end the game.

Seaforth
The Goderich Sports made it
three in a row Sunday when
they romped over Seaforth 12-8
in Goderich. The midget team
turned in a strong offensive
afternoon scattering 11 -hits for
their dozen runs.
Steve Chase was consistent at
the plate collecting four hits off
the Seaforth hurler. Phil Arthur
managed three hits including
• two stand up doubles. Mike
Cummings smashed a double
and added a single to hies
average and " Paul Schaefer
nailed the other two Sports hits.
The midgets go into action
again at home on June 15 at one
o'clock in the afternoon. Jon
Barz will. be starting on the -'v
mound..'•
