Plan night to encourage flower _show entries
For their final general
meeting untij, September the
Green Thumbers 'plan to host
Parents and friends at their
meeting on 'Friday, June 6 at
7:30 in the St: Mary's School.
All gardeners interested in
"growing and showing" of
"Growing for Showing" are
invited to attend this special
meeting.
The program has been
planned .to assist the Juniors
(who have' now received their
plants and seeds for theirown
gardens) how to prepare their
flowers for exhibiting, at the
Flower Shows to be held in June
and August in conjunction with
the Senior Garden Club. There
will also be some arrangements
on display and basic tips on
flower arranging will be part of
the demonstration:
Mrs. Moorhead,, a former
Flower 'Show judge and very
knowledgeable horticulturist
will be 'present for this
demonstration. She will in-
struct the Juniors in preparing
their individual blooms; and
many ;other helpful
suggestions.
In general, the program will
focus on Growing for showing
and it is sincerely hoped that
plunge,: gardeners; (young
adult gardeners, that is) will
try to attend this meeting.
It is hoped that this open
meeting and the instructions
given will assist new exhibitors
to gain confidence in their own

Mrs. Allan' Miller underwent
further surgery on Thursday at
University Hospital, London on
her ankle.
Mrs. Adeleen bawling pf St.
Jacobs spent a few days with
Mr, and Mrs. Bob Aitchison and
family.
Mr. John Cameron is a
patient, at Wingham . and
District Hospital having ' been
admitted on Saturday night.
' Dr. ' B.F. Green of Stilwell,
Oklahoma is holidaying with
his parents Rev. and Mrs. B.F.
Green and Gordon. -.
On Monday, Andrew Gaunt
visited with his brother, Mr`.
Earl Gaunt at Victoria
Hospital, London.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan McQuillin,
Andrea. and David of Kitchener
were weekend visitors with •
Mrs. Fred McQuillin.
Graduate
Barbara J. Boutilier, daughter
of Mr..and Mrs. A.B. 'Boutilier
of Goderich graduated.? last
week with ° a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Occupational
Therapy from the University of
Toronto. She has accepted "a
position 'in her chosen field at
the Queen St. Mental Health

had a busy month. They
assisted their Club gardener,
Bruce Betties and others on the,

committee clean up the steps at
. the bottom of Brittania Rd.,
and plant a rockery, which they
later • filled .with flowers
donated by Art B,ourdeau.
They also enlarged the bids

dered by blue ageratum.
Another small bed circling a
martin house near the jail has
also been planted by the Green
Thumbers. All plants wefe
donated by the Bourdeaus'.
The Green Thumbers have
each receieed petunias,
snapdragons, pally plants, and
marigold, sunflower and carrot
• seeds for their private gardens.
A hike and picnic under the
direction and supervision of
Bill Wisser is planned for
Sunday, June 18.
