Goderich is, indeed, one of the prettiest towns at any season of the year - but in the Spring it is outstanding. With the great growth of the town we have a lot of ugly. spots create,d by building up or tearing down - and right now there is surely plenty of building up. So, we are really .. progressing. We have so many fine -new homes and so many nice young couples buying these homes. I,bave met a great many of these young people and I feel Goderich is very for- tunate to have them. Every year we "lose" a number of young folk Who were raised here and need to try their wings in another area of Canada, but.after they grow up they realize this is a pretty nice town. It is nice to have them come home. One Goderich boy is retur- ning for G.D.C.I. Music Nite next Thursday 29 and he' is bringing a 70 piece band with him. Jean and rold Bettger's son Bill is ti usic Director at the Mont, m School in Lon- don, I' . not sure, but it must be a' pre big Secondary School to ha e such a large band. For the G.D.C.I. ' Annual Spring Music Nite there is a terrific program set up. There are two choir groups, one from Dresden-High—and -the "Clinton- Huron Secondary School group. The G.D.C.I. Senior Concert Band - also a terrific group make the fourth performing group for this evening. Al,. Mullen, G.D.C.I. Music Director tells me the two concert bands will join .for the finale. How about THAT! Do get your ticket and enjoy this good music. LIVE - alive - instead of TV stuff. The Sr. Concert Band, G.D.C.I., have a busy schedule. going all the way to Orilliaand North Bay for concerts. The Widdifield Band was here a few weeks ago go this is a return or exchange performance. at North Bay. • U . You can mark your calendar for a fine Sunday evening conert in Haiiiikr Park on June 22. I guess we are lucky to have them for that date as they are quite a popular group. Good going, Al Mullen! The Celebration '75 Corn- mittee also hope you have been marking your calendar when you hear, especially thru the Signal, of activities for this ' special year. I hope you will all co-operate by telling your friends about the two big weeks in July., Also, anyone interested in painting or crafts please . register . at the Recreation Office or • leave word with Reg. Bell Optom. office. The Committee for the Festival of the Arts, especially, are interested in your talents and hope you plan to' be with us for the three days of July 17, 18 and 19. There .will be sketching and •photography trips, tours of Historical homes and other events and you can make a date to each day have a pleasant few moments with your friends in the Old Fashioned Tea Garden. The Garage Sales are going great guns right now. One little girl advertises hers for May 24 starting at 9 a.m. with "lots of neat stuff". The Girl Guides are having one on the same day but starting•at 10 a.m. • I just hope they don't conflict but they probably have .lots of neat stuff too. See, coming events for more info! Don't forget the Penny Fair, •Bake Sale and even "flower demonstration " at the local hospital Women's Auxiliary,' May 28 at Knox Church 2:30 p.m, Since you have tea out in the afternoon you might as well make a day of it and attend the nice turkey, ham and salads and yummy stuff the ladies of Nile United Church are serving for supper starting about 5 :30. I want to., apologize for missing an item for our popular Women's Day Out - which ,should have been.in last week's 'column. Sorry, girls, I just hope you, had your excellent at- tendance anyway - and please let me help another time. I think this group have done.a great service for aq lot of newcomers to our town. A lot of these young folks have small children, they haven't met enough .people to have baby sitters available so they can go otit and meet people. So this group with their babysitting facilities have been just GREAT and a lot of fine friendships have started because a few people worked so hard to get this morning meeting started. I hope they have some plans 'for the summerfnonths so that the group doesn't drift apart. It is nice to know that even a few would be meeting at a park or the beach on certain days and the new gals in town still have a chance to get acquainted. There, are a few,, clubs and organizations I'd like to hear' from re: their plans for par- ticipating in the Celebration '75 activities. Let's talk this thing 'up, people really want to know ahead what is going on. Someone asked me one day if we had anyone here who made those nice quilts. Yes, we do - will you call me again, please? Don't forget the Sorority Spring Ball at Salt - ford, May 31.
