Roller skaters _number 144 at start
Minor baseball
The Goderich Minor Baseball League and the Girl's
Softball League are $2,000 richer this week as a result of.a 1,2
hour, Rollathon held on Victoria Day. The 'two leagues

coffers within the next two weeks.
The, oldest skater. taking part in the roller ,skate bonanza
was Dei Mitchelmore who , also was the ' biggest
moneymaker. Skating for $15 per hour she went seven hours,
which she vowed to do at the Outset, earning $105.
Over two-thirds of the 144, skaters' went the full 12 hours
putting on the brakes at nine o'clock Monday night, a tired
bu,t satisfied group 102 people strong.

GDCI track and field team see
30 members qualify for WOSSA
The GDCI Track and Field
team will send a bevy of per-
formers to the WOSSA track
meet next Saturday as a result
of a strong performance at the
Huron -Perth meet held at
Seagram Stadium, Waterloo
last week.
Close. to 30 members *ill
represent the GDCI track team
' at• the Western Ontario meet to
be held.in London.
Mark Hovey led the midget
boys contingent with first place
finishes, in the shot put and
discus and a third in the midget
javelin. Tim Doherty and Jim
Van Osch finished second and
third respectively in the midget
high jump. The midget boys
relay team of Tom O'Keefe,
Tony Widden, Mark Frayne
and Tim McLean rounded out
the category with a first.
It's not how you play the game that counts, it's how you look
playing it. An unidentified Viking player shows plenty of

place finish in the midget girls

contingent with a first in the
discus and a third in the shot
put. Tim McGee chipped in
with a first place finish in the
shot put.
The junior girls enjoyed a
profitable day claiming a host
of first and:"seconds. Marilyn
Aubin and Nellie Noop finished
one-two in the junior girls shot
put while Lisa Sboltz and Lor
Keller also finished one-two in
the long jump. Lori Keller also
added a third in the 100 metres
and a second in the 200 metres.

second in the girls 400 metre

and 200 metres.
Laura Ross was the lone
senior girl winner with a win in
the hurdles competition.' She
also added a third in the 100
metres. Team-mate Kim
Jeffrey .finished fourth in the
hurdles. The senior girls relay'
team composed of Sherry
Boyce, Mary Harper, Anita
Robinson and Laura Ross took
third place in the 400 r.-r.tre
event.
