In science we are studying
about "The Pond" and are
learning interesting things
about fish and frogs. Some of us
made' pictures and our own
stories. These are two of the
stories.
TADPOLES
After the mother frog gets out
from the mud she lays her eggs.
When the eggs hatch they turn
into tadpoles. They get their
back legs first and front legs
last. Sometimes the tadpoles
get eaten by a frog. When a
tadpole grows up to be a
mother, she will lay eggs too.,

TADPOLE&
Tadpoles come from eggs.
Some tadpoles die. Tadpoles
grow up into frogs and swim
away. They hibernate in the
mud in the winter. Then in the
spring they wake up.

We are makingla.mural about
the pond. Our classroom looks
like spring has really•arrived.
We made a blossom tree,
butterflies,, flowers and we
wrote spring stories on ' a
raindrop. In arithmetic we.are
learning about metric
measurement.
Trees:
their uses
Trees, shrubs, grass and
flowering plants can help our
survival.
Trees:
Use up carbon .dioxide in a
process , called photosynthesis
and produce 30 percent of the
oxygen of the air:
- Diminish• noise pollution
(example - near busy roads)
Can screen ugly and un-
desirable sights.
Filter dust and dirt from the
air.
Provide shade during hot
summer days yet lose their
leaves, and permit the warm
sunshine •to .penetrate, during
the winter. "
Cool air during the summer
by evaRoration.
Improve the appearance of a -
home and other buildings.
Provide us with beauty and
food.
Provide shelter'and food for
many birds and wildlife.
