w.,Well, that -old favorite of.The
Little Theatre people "Arsenic
and Old Lace" has once more
been tucked away but over kjx
hundred people will say they
enjoyed it, it was well .done and
the casting was excellent.
A few new faces again -
needed in each play - band,
,several old favorites who have
given their all for many years.
Frank Bissett;Arthur Currie
and Jack Marriott have been
absent for some time. Jennifer
Black had, I believe, played a
"'1 part in this same play many
years ago when she and hubby
Chris were at 'The Base',
Clinton. They are now very
much a part of Goderich since
they have acquired the little
Bedard store on Britannia
Road. So it is nice to see them
.again - and Chris is back in
music again with a great and
busy orchestra.
Togo back to the play - Jenny
as the little old spinster Abby
Brewster who with sister
Martha Brewster, well done by
Kathy ' Jenkins, kept the
. audience in stitches.
And speaking of stitches Dr.
Mike really had them. What a
voice - and • what a per-
formance. I thought he was just
a pn
_great - even . tho' some sitting
near the front thought the
"stitching'"'. overdone, those at
the back of the house thought it
was fine. Anyway you can't do
the make-up to suit everyone,
m . as our hall and stage are so
small. ' •
Mike Watts' sparing partner, •
Dr. Einstein -played so well by cni ar s m an
Goderi
eitement. Warren Robinson is
another "dependable" and
Richard O'Hanlon - a new
comer was right in there pit-
ching.
Arthur Currie - as the one
who got away from the lil 'ole
ladies, says he really enjoyed
being on stage again.
Frank Bissett who can
always be depended upon to
know his lines and give, an
excellent performance later,
with Arthur,'entertained at the
piano for the cast party. Those
good old sing -songs.
Brian Markson as Rev. Dr.
Harper~gave his usual polished
performance. '
June Hill, with a good
reputation as a director
whipped the whole show
together in record time, •
demanding'and getting the best
from each of her players. Later
she was presentedwith her own
..bottle of Elderberry wine -
which she promptly passed
around to one and all.
The wine wasn't spiked by
the old girls so everyone at the
party enjoyed the joke. Besides.
about 14 people acting on stage,
there were 18 or more people
working behind the scenes.
These workers also gaye a
great performance as car-
penters, .paper hangers, set
builders, the lighting,
costumes, props of all kinds --
someone • has to borrowarid
hang' pictures etc. Many, bits
and pieces go into putting the
show on the road.
A nice thing about this is the
way people turn up .when you
least expect it to help you.
Our Ruth Leonard, stage
manager, was all over the
place and did a bit 'of
everything - even to climbing
the stairs to that no -no land of
lighting.
In lighting Jim Mulhern was
right on the job and'phones, too,
rang before someone picked up
the receiver.
Also, as the man u$stairs, he
bowed nicely so on the inal
curtain everyone managed to
keep an eye on him and bowed
in unison. A great help.
It takes many dedicated
people to do a good play and
luckilymore *Nand more are
"getting into the act".
Try it sometime, Even if you
only help at the box office you
are really appreciated.

parently operated on that body
many times - but then Friday
night Dr. Einstein was snagged
in the eye by the corner of the
great chest, where the bodies
were hidden, and is now
sporting a black eye. It. was
pretty 'sore for Fridays per-
formance but extra makeup hid
it a bit - .but it will be r,emem-
bered for many years.
Newcomer Janet Bargh - that
pretty gar who was persistent
enough to make an honest man
oiut of Mortimer, well played by
Dan Worthy- as a first timer I
thought Janet did very well.
Beecher Menzies as officer
O'Hara' was just right for this
part. Who else but a lawyer
