Spring is here! ! The ladies of
Woman's Day Out could readily
believe this after watching
slides shown by Mrs. Jean
Barnett last Wednesday.
We started our slide trip. in
New York at the Rochefeller '
Centre with Easter Lilies and
Daffodils. From there we
journeyed across the ocean to
the Tower of London to view the.
chrysanthemums and see the
,grounds and gardens around
Buckingham Palace. Then on
to Edinburgh with lovely rose
gardens along the sunken
garden walk and viewed the
floral clock.
We then made our way to St,
Andrews, Scotland with its
many rose gardens and ivy
walls which were a joy to see.
We toured the Highlands where
a profusion of rhodendrom and
wild broom along the lochs met
our eager eyes. On the way
again to Switzerland where we
saw gardens of roses, spring
bulbs,, chrysanthemum gar-
dens and many chalets covered
with bright red geraniums and
roses.
, To Milan, chrysanthemums
the national memoriam flower;
Rome, gardens of the Vatican.;
Florence, Courtyard of the Old
Palace; Naples, Don Jon Castle
grounds; Genoa where we were
entranced by the "floral ships,
the Monument to Christopher
Columbus. Pisa with the
gardens in Pegli; Sicily the
Palermo Cathedral gardens, ,
bathing beach' with flower
beds; Monaco where of course
we, stopped at Monte Carlo.
Now we are back home again
stopping--th see the—tulips-4n
Ottawa and see the Parliament
Buildings; Niagara Falls, •
School ,,of Horticulture where
numerous gardens and' parks,
are in bloom; Kingston to see,
Upper Canada Village; the
Welland Canal; Stratford
where you find lovely parks and
gardens; London to '§ee gar-
dens and parks on view there
especially at Springbank Park
and then back to Goderich
where we stopped at Mrs.
Barnetts home to see close ups
of the many roses on view
there.
To add more to seeing all the
-74oliely flower gardens, we were
shown just how attractive you
can make the flowers look in
different containers. One very
unusual one was a very dainty
arrangement in a cup and
saucer. Of q.ourse the Spring
Flower show where choice
blooms were displayed so
charmingly was another at-
traction.
We all wish to thank Mrs.
Barnett for showing usa bit of
Spring color in advance while
we all are waiting for those first
blossoms to burst forth.
Next week, we will be
reporting on our Fun Day White
Elephant Sale and would like
now to say a special thank you
to Mr. Harold Lamb, auc-
tioneer, for helping us with our
sale.
There will be no Woman's
Day Out meeting on April 30th
as children areiiut of school for
the day.
Our next meeting on May 7th
will be slides on Africa shown
. by Mrs. Lambert and daughter.
Come and join us.

said a course could be laid out

would obviously mean the rider
