long 'tough battle against
Reinhardt Voelmle to. take a
one game to nothing lead.
Also in Level 1, kirk Lyndon
and Dave Weary adjourned 1
their first game with Kirk
having a slight positional ad-
vantage..This game could last,
1
ono a while yet and could still
et v easily go either way.
In Level 2 quarter -finals
Harold Kloeze won the first
game against John Kane while
Glen W' fight man lost the . first
Battu' against John Kloeze.
John Kloeze has become a
greatly improved player this
year and is continuing to prove
he belongs up in Level 2.
-In the Third Level quarter-
finals Laird Eisler won his first
game against Darrell Kloeze,
However John bounced back to
take the second game tying the
series at one game apiece. .,

Don Bogey then bounced back
to take the next two games and
the series two games to one..
John went on to play the first
game of the semi-final series
against Bob Dick. In' this game
Bob got off to a bad start but
bounced back to wip.
Although Larry McDougall
has been...eliminated in the
playoffs he showed substantial
improvement this year winning
almost half of his games. With
one more yepr's experience
experience behind him Larry
should become a strong Second
Level contender.
In Level Four quarter -finals
Larry Gower lost the first game
against Kathy Weary but came
right back 'with .a win in the
second game to tie the series at
one game apiece. Jim Gower
lost his first game against Bob

the chess 'club and Brian
showed real potential of
becoming a strong chess player
with a few more years ex-'
• perience under his belt,
Members number 30
Three years ago, Jim Kingsley of Goderich felt that this
community and the people here, should be more interested in
chess. An avid chess player himself, he didn't have anyone who
could play the game with.him. So, he decided to start a club. '
At this time, the 1-luron County chess club has 30 members.
Many high school students have shown an interest for this
game as well as others of all ages and interests.
The club operates from October tb April every year. The
youngest member is ten, and there is only one girl member.
The club still does not have special place to meet, so for the
last two years, Mr. Kingsley has beenholding the meetings in
his home. ,
At the end of the season, a trophy is presented to the person
with the most points, at the banquet held by the club.
