On Thursday, Match 27 the
Women's Institute ladies en-
joyed., a botintiful pot luck
luncheon - at noon at
McClenaghan's. Mrs. Graham
McNee presided for business
during which she thanked all
those who helped make the
Dessert Euchre at Brookside on
'March 19 a success.
It was reported that Easter
gifts and greetings had been
distributed to sick and shut-in.
Several cards of
acknowledgement for these
giftswere read:
An invitation was received
from Blyth W.I. to attend their
65th birthday party on May 12
in Blyth.
Correspondence was
received that the Huron Dairy
Princess, Miss Mary Anne
Miltenberg will be available for
speaking engagements. Some
members of. W.I. will par-
ticipate in Cancer Canvass in
April.
The District - Director's
meeting will be held in Auburn
on April 7.
Roll call was answered with a
verse from an autograph
album. The nomination com-
mittee report was given by
Mrs. Harry Girvin. Mrs. Hugh
McWhinney conducted in-
stallation of new officers.

It was decided to chadge the
time of the meetingS to the first
Wednesday of each month
when new programs are set up
in May. Reports were received
from conveners
Mrs. Marion Zinn, curater of
Tweedsmuir Book, gave a most
interesting topic on "The Story
of the Ontario West Shore
EleCtricRailway.”
The plan was proposed in 1901
to have a passenger and freight
service from Goderich , to
Kincardine following the
general route of Highway 21.
Construction was Started in
1908 but was never completed
as the whole deal was found to
be a fraud and swindle headeds,
by a John W. Moyes. • ,,
Some municipalities who sold
bonds on the project in, good'
faith had to pay extra taxes for
many years to honour the
bonds.. The material on this
story was researched by two
university students and printed.
in a 97 -page booklet.

which closed with singing of the
Queen.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell
Johnston spent four days in
London last week visiting with
their family.

the village into the house for-

The local L.O.L. held a card
party on Thursday, March 27 at
which there were 12 tables full..
Over all high prize for the
evening went to Howard
Johnston. High man's prize,
,Walter Alton; low man's, Jack
Errington; high lady's prize,
Mrs. Florence Reed
(Gederich);, low lady's Mrs.
Emma Alton. The ilext card
party will be held .on Friday,
April 11.
Sympathy is extended to Mr.

the death of her brother, Peter
de Boer of Kinloss Drip. on
March 20 in his 50th year.

she became ill suddenly..

All members being present,
the meeting opened with the '4H
pledge. For roll call, members
showed their blouse pattern
and fabric. Wanda Park and
Leola ° Chisholm read the
minutes ' of the last • two
meetings. A design was
selected for the booklet covers.
Discussion was held on
Achievement Day and exhibits.
The topic, "Stilt • the.
Occasion" was read from the
leaders pamphlets and
discussed. Bev. Macinnes
, helped Kathy Pentland • and
Arlene Tr•avis to straighten
their material. The next
meeting will be held on April 3
at the home of Bev MacInnes.
