Knitting • PLANNING Agriculture was the main subject for discussion at the Planning. Workshop Program meeting at Colborne Township Hall last Thursday evening, March20. There wasa splendid attendance - of farmers who were interested in what was to become of 'their farin,land and many were especially in- terested in whether the arban, people' were going to be allowed to encroach in some instances. .Russell Kernighan was chairman for the meeting and at the,question and answer period "at: --these meetings it is interesting to hear the view of .Colborne Township residents. This wastheir fourth meeting on this project. Marie Montgomery opened the meeting with the 4-H Pledge and Darlene Fisher read the minutes of last meeting. Roll call was answered by all members present and Norine Brindley handed out the program for Achievement Day. Mrs. Mildred, Montgomery, leader, then discussed the project for spring 1976 and Helen Brindley, leader, in- formed the girls that the books had to be handed in complete for this project by April 28th. The members worked on their garments which , they were making --a blouse for their wardrobe - and any help needed was quickly given by the leaders. The meeting closed with Shelly Baer repeating the 4-H Creed. Next Meeting will be Monday, March 31. GROUP NO. 4 Tiger Dunlop Topsy Turvies had their third meeting at the home of the leader, Mrs. Bert Dougherty on Monday evening. Nine girls answered the roll call The girls discussed co- ordination of clothes to suit the occasion' and they also discussed wardrobe harmony. The topic for the meeting was given by Mrs. Charles Kalb- fleisch who chose the "Reality of Easter:" After :dt short talk two films were shown' emphasising the love of mankind and bringing a broader knowledge of the Easter message, "Christ and the•meaning of Life". The meeting closed with The Lord's Prayer and the mein- bers then enjoyed a social half hour together. Obituary , JOHN WESLEY BOWEN John Wesley Bowen of Wellington' Street, G©derich,. passed away in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital. in Goderich on March 21. He was 72. - He was - born. ill Seaforth, Ontario on January ,25, .'903,, a soli. of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bowen. Mr. 13owen was married. in Royal Oak Michigan to the former Dorothy E. .,avis and the couple resided there after their marriage. She survives him. He was • a n ember of Royal Oak MetthOdist Church. Besides his''wife,' he is silt- vived by one brother: Albert Bowen of Exeter. He was predeceased by one soh,`TtToyd Wesley.
