Everything looks favorable for the open-
ing of the new track of the Detroit Orly
Jug Club on July 10, when, there will, be
assembled at this fast course more trot-
ters and pacers than have ever taken part
in a 'six-day meeting in this country. The
entries. which closed on Monday, July 2,'
were. a surprise even" to the management.
True, it had been expected that the mete -

The new track merits such an outpour-

FIGURED IN THE REBELLION.
Captain Joseph Lee, a Man With a Career,
Die's at Windsor.
Wir nsoa, June 30. --Captain Joseph
Lee, one of Windsor's oldest and most re-
spected citizens, is dead. He was '78 years
of age, and had seen the border grow from
an uncivilized, unsettled frontier land to
its present condition.
During the.rebellion of '1837 he " was on
duty at Amherstbnrg and other • points
along the Detroit river, and later on was
in command of the military at 'Kingston.
He was also in charge of the forces when
Von Schultz, one of the leaders of the re-
bellion, was hanged. While chief clerk
in the quarter -master general's office at
Montreal he was accused of being con-
nected•with the conspiracy to burn the
Parliament Buildings and was forced to
retire from the service.
Some years later it was shown that ho
had been unjustly accused, and he was
given a civil service position in the Cus-
toms Department.
After quitting the military service. Cap-
tain Lee turned his attention to theatri-
cals, and for five years travelled 'with E.
A. Southern, Mary Gannon, Charles
Fisher and other noted players of that
time.,

The worst cases of this class are cured

legs, and sore sand ulcers generally, is by
rubbing the Ointment into the inflamed
parts around the orifice, first opening the
pores and softening the flesh with warm
fomentatione. The part affected is then
dressed with lint or linen eaturated with
the Ointment. Such is the external
