Ray Potter and Sons are
looking Jorward to moving into
their new building on the
westerly outskirts of Clinton
because it will give,; them space
they " never dreamed of five
years ago.
That's when Ray and his son
were given the Ford Implement
dealership,. and they have had
it ever since.
Things have come a long way
since 1969, and Ray says the
new building on Highway 8V/ill
give them greater room for a
service, parts, and sales.
The new building, which is
still having the finishing
touches added, features a large
three -bay service`' garage, a
bigger parts department, ,and
an enlargedequipment storage
area,
The move to the new 2,800
square foot building from the
farm ' on Concession 4 of
Goderich, Township will enable
Ray to better service his Ford
products.
And Ray has them all, from
the smallest five horse lawn
tractor to the 100 horse or more,
four-wheel-drive units, capable
of eating up a, hundred acres a
day.
He will also have a cc;rnplete
line of Ford industrial equip-
ment and an accessory Ford
line that offers everything from
manure spreaders, to forage
harvesters to- PTO
snowblowers. -
Ray and his son Wayne are
also the area dealers for
Scorpi-an snowmobiles, which
has proven to be one of the
toughest machines on the
market.
To better acquaint the far-
ming population and -the
general public, Ray is holding
an open house this Friday,
March 28 from 10 a.m, until 6
p.m. and a special dance will be
held on the large bay floor from
9:30 p.m,' until 12:30 a.m. and
will feature the well-known
local band, "The Star Trex." -
So Ray has. invited everyone
out for free coffee and donuts
this friday- to look over the
building and the "Big Blue."

Rocky Racoon has done
additional reading through the
files at the Maitland Valley_
Conservation Authority and has
come up with more tips on
cross-country skiing.
The . skis themselves should
be stored in a cool place during
the summer; then put out in the
snow to absorb moisture before
use in the winter: Ideally, skis
should be dry before you try to '
apply_proper waxes, and.,
remain cool before going on an
outing. -
Never ' allow your skis ° to-
pudd-le-of-water as -
this' causes the taminationsto
.separate. Always carry a
screwdriver to keep binding
screws tight. This prevents a
lot of wasted effort when skiing.
Don't. worry about gouges in
your skies, they can be filled
with plastic wood, or if too
deep, sanding is suggested. It's
a good idea to either glue
splinter's into place, or ti;m
them with a . jack-knife to
prevent them from pulling
away. from the ski.

exert himself. Over tired
muscles are easily injured and
usually require a good deal of
time to mend. Keep in„ mind
that 'Dross -country racers run
for' 20 to 30 miles per day for
months to get into shape before
entering competitions.
When skiing its a good
practice to force breath out ,
. when you exhale. This rids the
body of carbon dioxide gas,
thus helping to prevent tiring

Skiers , should..always be '
careful not to' become
ov-er-heated while._on—the-trail. T
When you ,return home, it is
suggested that you take a bath ,
or shower within 10 -15 minutes
to prevent chills arid to relax
muscles: -
Always be very careful if you°
ski alone. Be wary of ob-
„structions in your path and
judge whether or not to remove
your skis to go around them. If
you become very' , iired, find a.
comfortable spot to rest. After
putting on an extra jacket, it'`s
good to eat some candy or take
small drinks. ALWAYS avoid
getting coldahile'-resting, and -
try to use dfiletent muscles
when starting • up on the trail
again. '
If you're planning a ski trip,
always be familiar with the
area either py visiting ahead of
time,, or by studying maps.
Make sure that you record
landmarks, and be aware of
your directions. If you,get lost,
- you can try to back track your
own trail. If several tracks are
present, search for those where
the ski pole has left drag marks
in the snow. This tells you
-which way the skier was
travelling.
