The first game will be played in Port Elgin on Tuesday night with the second game at Goderich Wednes.day at 8:'30. Sailors will travel to Port Elgin for the third • game Friday evening and then- back in Goderich Sundarfor a game at 2:OO p.m. Sunday afternooh, March 2, before the largest attendance of the year, the Sailors scored four insurance goals in. the final period to defeat Mitchell Red Devils 7-3. Sailors only had two minor penalties called plus one 10 minute misconduct in the game. , Playing on home ice Saturday's game was a tough one for'Mitchell to lose as they Other goal scorers were Cam MacDonald on a breakaway blasting one high 'into the top corner; Ron Sowerby, who replaced Ken Meriarh who was hurt' early in the game, picked up a goal from 10 feet out as he did some .gxcellent back checking; Mike Courtney, the• most aggressive player on the Sailors team also picked up a goal and Ron Corri'veau moved in from the defensive spot into the slot arid firedit home ftir the tie breaking goal .of the game. Wayne Doak scored the Sailors second goal. ' First game of the series wound up with . a score of Sailors 8, Mitchell 1. Wayne Doak started the scoring for the 1Ja only goal in the first period, from Jim Hayter. Bill Jansman and Wane Rau picked up had a 3 to 1 lead 'going into the third period. But the Sailors fought back to tie the game and then win it on a goal by Wayne Doak at the ' 4:33' mark ' of overtime. No, scoring in the first period. Mitchell opened the* scoring in the second period on ,a goal by Graham Cox unassisted but Jim Hayter broke loose to tie the game one -all as he split the defense and fired it home unassisted. Mitchell picked up two more goals in the last two minutes of play in the'second as Ken Rielly and' Bill Chessell connected to beat Chuck Jewell. In the final period it was Ron Miller who picked up Wayne .Doak's 'pass 'to make it 3-2. ,. Starting the play was John Fenwick: " Jim )-layter tied the game at the 14:48 mark from Wayne Rau who is back skating after his injury .and was'responsible in setti:ng,up the winning goal in overtime. .R., Jim Farrish played a steady two way game, picking up an assist. on the tie breaking goal as he dug it out from the corner feeding it to Wayne Rau'who, set up Doak for the winning goal.
