Sweep pair
Elmira ousts'
Goderich Midgets
By JACK CUMMINGS
In the first game against the
Elmira "Budds", Goderich lost
3-2 On a goal scored in the final
30 seconds. The Twins were jug
not organized in the first period
as Elmira scored at the 1;52
mark on a power play.
This lead stood up until the
second period when The Twins
finally managed to score. Bill
Lewis fed Phil Arthur a pass in
gie slot. Arthur let one go but
somehow Doug Martin stopped
this shot. However, Paul
Schaeffeg, picked up the
rebound arid tucked in home.
The whole Goderich team
'playing -their best hockey of the
season finally went ahead with
less than eight minutes
remaining in the third period.
Phil Arthur got the go-ahead
goal. Assisting was Ed Cour-
tney and Bill Lewis.
With less than four minutes
remaining in the game and with
the play deep in thew Elmira
end, . Ted Bryndza broke up a
play in his own end and fed a'
long pass to Rick Trapp who
faked a pass and then beat John
Page for the tying goal. •
It looked like the game would
go into overtime but The Twins
gotcaught with only one man
back and Trapp scored on a
two-man breakaway. ,
The second game was played
in Goderich on Sunday af-
ternoon with Elmira coming
out on top 6 to 4. The big dif-
ferencein the game was
penalties. Goderich received 37
minutes in penalties. This hurt
the club, as Bill Walters
received a spearing penaltY
and a match penalty which put
him out for the rest of the
game.
Phil Arthur picked up two
goa's for Goderich and single.
goals went to Ed Courtney and
Bill Lewis. Greg Beacom,
'Goderich's outstanding
defenseman was injured early
in' the game as he received two,
brok n fingers only minutes
inte th second period.
Withfiese two player's out,
Elmira connected with four
unanswered goals. The Twins
were leading 3-2 before they
lost the services of Greg
Beacom. e

Mr. Coombs said that-
