The Ontario government has
just renewed a program that
will give 250 college students a
chance to gain practical ex-
perience in municipal gover-
nment administration. and
planning.
In announcing the renewal
Ontario Treasurler W. Darcy
McKeough said the program,
known ' as InvolVement in
Municipal AOministration
(1MA), is open to students
administration ot- urban or
regional planning courses. at
universities . or ammunity
college§. The program, now
entering its third year, will run
from April through September.
To encourage municipalities
to employ students under the
IMA program', the Ontario
government offeri to reim-
burse the municiParitiei to
• employ students under the IMA
program, the Ontario gover-
nment offers to reimburse the
municipalities for up to 80
percent:- of the •students'
salaries, for a maximum
subsidy of $100 a week per
student.
In a letter to all Ontario
municipalities, Mr. McKeough
said the program offers ad-
- vantages both. to the students
and to the municipalities

"The student is not only
provided with an opportunity to
gain practical experience and
to develop his or her academic
training but can also assess the
advantages of pursuing.' a
career in local government"

'Beef Information Centre, and a
talk by a home economist from
Oakville. ,-The Tree Fruit
session (morning only) reports
on trends in Europe, high in-
tensity planting and fruit
research at Simcoe. Staff will
be available following lunch for'
discussions with individual
producers.
February 28, Crops Day, will
include updates of variety and
herbicide recommendations,
soybean information and
leasing "arrangements. Crop
insects, diseases, weather
trends and budgeting will also
be featured.
With the exception of the
Dairy Program, sessions run
each day from 10 a.m. to about
3:30 p.m. A noon luncheon will
be available 'at a nominal cost.
The display of new and updated
publications from the Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture and
Fooiluwill be set up again to
assist farmers with their 1975
production plans. '
