Minor Hockey Association will hold their annUal meeting on Tuesday, February 25, at 8 p.m. at the Legion. The purpose of the meeting is to elect d• new executive for the '75-'76 season. Also anyone interested in next season should be present. Congratulations to the teams Who are now entering into the Second round of the 0.M.H.A.. playoffs. GRAHAM ELECTRIC. NOVICE ALL-STARS Last Saturday night, the Electrics showed some good team work against . Listowel both • offensively and defen- sively in recording a 6-1 win. All -three lines were passing and checking every shift and the defense moved the pucle up to them well to get the forward's, started. John Thompson ,who scored four goals during the game, opened the scoring at 1; 36 of the first period after being et up by Randy Gaynor. Brent Williamson!made it 2-0 at 2:54 of the same period, by banging in Daryl Madge's rebound. Mike Eastwood also assisted. Thompson notched* his second at 6:45 after taking Kent FeagarCs pass and scoring on a breadkaway. Listowel scored its only goal at 2:09 of the second perita,- -B. Scheeringa unassisted but John Thompson scored at 7:07 unassisted to take a little pressure off and make it 4-1. Daryl Madge 'made it' 5-1 at' 2:32 of the third period unassisted on a low hardshot from the top of the left' circle. Thompson scored his -fourth when Kent Feagan laid a perfect pass out from the corner at 5:35 which ended all • scoring for the night. With this kind of play in the future, the Electrics are going to hold their own againstany Novice team. This weekend the Electrics play back to back games. with Stqneybrook, here Saturday , and away Sunday. •" NOVICE • • HOUSE LEAGUE The first game aot under way at 9:15, Saturday morning with Mr. Stereo winning the game 2- ," 0 over Lionels'.Sunoco. Scott Middell scored the first goal assisted by Mike Brenner and DaViciJewell scored the secpnd •unassisted. Congratulations t� • Raymond Bedard for another shutout and also, he has been chosen star of the week. • The second game started at 10:15 , with Gardiner's Dairy winning the game 3-1 •over Legion Auxiliary. Gord Harper, Mark, Jeffrey grid 8 tekes cored for Gardiner's. Randy Chapman scored the only goal for the Legion-AuXiliary assisted by Gerald Hakkers. 'Playoffs start February 24 With first and third_place teams playing February 28,• as well as the second and fourth place teams. There will be three games total goals. Then start the finals which will be all over' on March 8. SUNCOAST ESTATES • ATOM ALUSTARS The Suncoast Suns' Atoms .brought home their third trophy of •the season last weekend, taking the runners-up, award at the Huronian Hockey Tournament held in Teeswater.. The Suns blanked Bradford 4- 0 inlirst round action and then went on to shutout Walkerton 3- 0 in the semi-finals of the "A" division, held Saturday evening. • On Sunday,. in the class "A" final the Suns met a very"strong team,' the, Waterloo, Cubs, an "A.4k" team in leave play. The. Suns skated and checked with the Waterloo team for ' two •scoreless periods, but Waterloo Scored twice in the final period to win the game, 2-0, and take the championship. Waterloo was not scored on in the tournament. They defeated . Hanover, 1-0 in opening round play and shut out St. Thomas 4- 0 in the semi-finals. In 55 games this season, Waterloo' has lost only Once. Stincoast Suns so far this year include the consolation championship from the Kin- cardine Winter Games and'the championship of the 'A' class in the Arthur Tournament 'earlier this • nth. All three of the trophi s are on display in the window of the Alexander and Chapman office on the square. Single assists went to Graham, David Gallow, David Eastwood and Jim Mathers. Goaltenders Jim *MacDonald and Jeff Denomme who gave up only one goal each in the three grnes in the tournament, shared the shutout. Against Walkerton in the -senii-final game, the Suns played a steady checking game, giving Walkerton few good chances to score. Three third period goals gave' the Suns their 'second win of the tournam en t. • Darrell Graham scored twice and Joey' Morrissey once for the Suns. David Gallow and David Eastwoodwere-credited with assists. The game with Waterloo was a hard-hitting•one, but the Suns did not back down • from' the aggressive, Cubs, matching them stride for stride • and check for check. • Todd Smith . and Pat 'Evans scored in the third period to win. it for Waterloo. There is a strong possibility they will be playing in the playoffs here Saturday. at 6 p.m., but details are not known as yet. This Saturday the Suns are participating in the Lucan Leprechaun Tournament. Their first game is at 11 a.m. when they meet Huron East. ATOM HOUSE LEAGUE Tuesday night was Tom Profit's night as he scored seven goals to lead the Can- dlelight Tavern to a 9-2 victory over the Mcintee Real Estate Club in the first game and Glenmark Homes upset Canadian Legion Auxiliary in the second game on John Peters' tie breaking goal with only two seconds remaining in the game. In the first game, Tom Profit scored all four goals in the first period for the Candlelight Tavern, Andrew Sumner picked up an assist. The only goal for Mclntee was by' Greg Lapaine who 'spoiled 'Jim Reynolds' shutout. • In the second period h Tom Profit roamed unchecked, stealing the puck and getting a breakawaY for two more goals, both unassisted. • Scott McDonald combined with Mike Moriarty to make it 7-1 before the period ended. iireg Lapaine • picked up his second goal of the. game, letting a wrist shot go, after receiving a pass from at McDonald; but before -the -game ended„ Tom Profit got his seventh goal and Mike Chisholm passed over to Greg Marshall in the slot wlio scored ,Candlelights second, short- handed.goal. ' The second game was •on February 11 when Glenmark Homes came from behind a 3-0 deficit after two periods to win. 5-4. The Canadian Legion Auxiliary went ahead 2-0 in the first period on two breakaway goals both unassisted by Allan Hough and Del Bedard. 'Good goaltending by both' goalies; Pat 'BiS'sett and Paul McCar- tney was featured in_the second period as the ••only,.goal scOred was by Canadian Legion's Scott Stoll • assisted' by Tim Rooseinalen. Paul. Bolan scored two early third period goals to make it 3-2 a minute apart. The Canadian Legion ,Auxiliary moved to a two -goal lead again with Brian Shor,t,reed's breakaway goal at the four minute mark. With two .members of the Legion team in ' the penalty box, Glenmailk scored their goal of the game, Rick Young getting the counter making the score 4-3. With Gkenmark Homes pressing, and having theedge of the play „ Mike Sheardown ' scored the tying goal on a breakaway. Then with only two seconds left in the, game,"J...ohn Peters added the Wl.nikng goal. - Final 'two gams of the regular schedule were played' aturday morning, Canadian Legion Auxiliary battled Candlelight Tavern for first place and were successful in winning, 7-4 on three third period unassisted goals, with less, than five minutesu remaining in the game. The Legion went ahead in the first period on Terry Erb's goal from Del Bedard and Alan Houg.h. Then Del Bedard combined with Ron Stoddart to make it 2-0. Second period, Scott MacDonald was fed a pass up through-centreby Paul Murphy for , a breakaway goal; putting Candlelight Tavern back in the game. Del Bedard got credit for the Legions next goal' as Ron Stoddart fired one in and it deflected in off Del's skate into the net. Tom Profit,' top goal scorer in the League, was watched and checked very closely throughout the game, but still managed to score ,getting his first goal from Joe Melady and Mike Chisholm to make it 3-2 by tbe end of the second. • -•-In the final periodStottStoll scored from in fi'ont assisted by Scott MacDonald to add to the Legions count. Then Tom Profit tied the game 4-4 as Joe Melady set Tom up on two good passes giving Profit the hat trick. With, the score tied, both'teams pressing, Greg Kirkconnell broke loose and put away two quick, goals to give the Canadian Legion Auxiliary first place. The final goal for the Canadian Legion Auxiliary was by Ron Stoddart from Scott Stoll. Alan Hough who has been making good plays all through the game set up- Greg Kirk- connell's second goal. ' ,Good team work by Frazer Abbott. and John Peters tied the game 2-2 in the third period. -But the star of the game was Tom Smith with two goals. In the semi-finals, Gleninark Homes will be against Can- dlelight Tave.rn and this series should produce an upset as the Glenmark Homes have been playing excellent hockey in the last five games. This could be the team to watch: Denomme Flowers and did an excellent job stopping several breakaways and only allowing. two toget past him. In the first game Friday env -ening, Goderich O.P.P. outscored Denomme Flowers 6- 4 and .now take sole possession of third place in the standings. Goals by Mark Finlayson and Dean Bowra 'gave the O.P.P, team a 2-L lead by the end of the first period. • Denomme - Flowers! lone•gOal was scored by Steve Sager. In the second period, Denomme Flowers went ahead 3-2 on Steve Sagers second gOal assisted by Wes McLean and then Scott Smith • scored '28 seconds late'r from' Paul King and Aryon Bos. With only- 23 seconds remaining in the second period, Alan Bakker tied the' game 3-3. The dif- ference in the game was the third 'period as the •O.P.P.'s scored three goals, two -by Gil Vandenheuval ancl the other by bean Bowrawho picked up his. second goal of the game. Denomme Flowers' only goal in the third period was by Ted Doherty. Two • substitute,. goaltenders were in nets for the game, Scott Wilson for O.P.P. and Rob Huff for Dendmme Flowers. Both came up with some outstanding saves. The first period, Jim Fritzley opened the scoring for Sifto Salt but before the period ended, -- Rol, Taylor picked up Dean Bowt4' s pass from Steve Dobie to tie the game. Phil Brown got the go-ahead -pa-IT-Pick ing up Jiin Fritzley's pass and letting one to' to beat Brad Shortreed. Sifto Salt added another goal,. as Steve Boyce combMI with Mike Bissett.- • . Goderich O.R.P.• made it 3-2 on'a goal by Gil VandenHeuvel. Dean Bowra assisted.
