Ernie and Eleanor McMillan
won both the Goderich district
and Zone Cl; Huron and Bruce
County contests to earn the
right to compete in the high
schoolfinals held in Port Elgin
on February 23. • • .
The brother an&sister team
won the first leg of their
competition atthe Goderich
pranch, 109 contest held at
Judges Mrs. Warren
Robinson, Mrs. Glen Machan
and Mrs. Bert Robinson
selected the pair to represent
Goderich at the Huron and
Bruce County level.
Ernie McMillan's speech on
"A Trip ,to the West Indies"
won him the senior division
honors over Tom McGill who
spoke on "Sailing" Eleanor
McMillan won top spot in the
junior division with a speech
about "The Generation Gap."
She was selected ahead of Mary
Ann Kalbfleisch who spoke on
"A Trip to Florida,"
The senior division of the
competition is made up of
students representing Grades
11, 12' and 13 and the junior is
for Grade 9 and 10 students.
'The,..Goderich branch had
students from primary grades
competing in the two county
contest. Beth Walton spoke, in
the' Grade 7 and 8 students
division and Melanie Dustow
the Grade 5 and 6.
