14 -year-old Helen when she
became paralyzed from the
waist down after. a farm
accident, For Helen, " the'
worTd 'had stopped and life
had little meaning. It was
only after a heart-to-heart"
talk with her father that Fhe

Helen. Banks is now 35, and
the mother -of two boys. She
has learned boo.kbinding,
dressmaking and is •
presently employed at the
March. of 'Dimes , Ability
Centre in London,
When Mrs. Banks moved
to London, she applied for a
job as a ,bookbinder at a °
local business, but was
turned down because of her
_handicap. She made 'dresses
for a short period of time,
but, hard difficulty collecting
the money for her work.
Then there was a period of
sitting around the house with
no way of 'escape without.
