last Wednesday evening.
The guests were received by
the committee in charge which
consisted of Mrs. E. Anderson,
Mrs. H. Hibbert, Mrs. R.
Hughes, Mrs: R. Menzies, Mrs.
G. Ellis, Mrs. E. Reaburn, Mrs.
M. Witter and Mrs. A. Walker.
Miss Claire McGowan provided
attractive Christmas programs.

of the evening unit, gave aY
welcoming address.

North St. Choir and Mrs. E.
Jessup led in Christmas m•us.i-c.
The afternoon unit presented
the devotional service with
Mrs. H. Knisley presiding. Mrs,
Procter read The°' Christmas
Story from the Bible and Mrs.
W. Docksrader read, "One
Solitary Life". Background
music was Christmas recor-,
dings by' The Morman Taber-
nacle Choir.
Mrs. B. 'Hanly took charge of
the business period of the
U.C.W. and the evening closed
with a candlelight ceremony by
the evening unit, presided over
by Mrs, R. Hughes and Mrs. E.
Anderson.
A huge globe encircled by
member~ in native costume,
provided the focal point , with
Mrs. M.. McGill as India; Mist
C. McGowan as Korea; Mrs, M.
Witter as Africa; Mrs.—I,. Brit-
nell as Canada; IVI.rs. K. Butler
as l'4ttlaya; Mrs. R. Riehl as
-Japan; and Mrs. .J.• Seid as
China. All spoke of Christmas
in their lands.

STEWART PLUNKETT
Stewart Plunkett, 113 Wolfe
Street, • died suddenly in
Alexandra Marine and General.
Hospital December 6. He was
70.
He ',was born February 4,
1904 in West Watwarlosh Town-
ship to Robert and . Maria
(Rutledge) Plunkett. He farmed
until retiring to Goderich at the
age of 45. He was, an adherent
of Knox Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Beth Ross whom he
married fin., Teeswater August
27„1939; one daughter, Mrs.
Keith (Mary Lou) Collyer,
Wingham; two grandchildren;
and two sisters, nMrs. Chester
(Violet) McPhee, West
Wawanosh and Mrs. Robert
(Lily) Bogie, Goderich. -
Funeral service was Monday,
December 9 at Stiles Funeral
Home with Rev. G. L. Royal of-
ficiating.
Interment was in Maitland
Cemetery, Pallbearers were
Ben Johnson, Frank Phelan
and Norman Hamilton,. all' of
Goderich; Ben Hamilton and
Andy Plunkett of Auburn; and
Gordon Stewart of Bayfield.
