Board of Education exceeded
the ceiling on' per pupil
operating expenditures for
elementary school purposes by
an amount of $16,003 .or $1.99
per pupil in 19 2, the amount
of, general: islative grant
payable to th '"Vi`'i and for 1974
for elementary school purposes
will be reduced by $4,695.
Mr. Cochrane reported that --
an invitation has' been exten-
ded to iparents and trustees to
visit the recently renovated
• Exeter Public School and the
new addition which h""as been
completed. •
An opportunity class has
been organized at (LA: -D;
McCurdy School, also a senior
opportunity class at Howick
Central Public School con-
sisting of 16 boys and girls who
receive practical training as
well as academic instr,action,
using the portable as a
classroom.
• Kindergarten children at
Blyth are attending classes in
their own robm for the first
time in several years. The
auditoriumstage is not .being
used as an ' instruction area.
The library is now in operation
at Colborne 'public School and
will be at Blyth's school -later
this month. •
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
Instruction in instrumental
music is being given four times
a week at Holmesville a5chool,
in 35 minute classes. At a total
cost of $1,307 rental for the
year, 29 instruments have been
rented. Participating student's
are paying $45 each and the
students' council, local
Women's. Institute and service
clubs have assisted to provide
some equipment,
lames Bishop, a teacher at
Seaforth,, Public School, was
highly praised and thanked in a
letter from Mrs. Wayne Ellis
for taking some of the students'
on a camping trip to
Collingwood _ members of the
Outdoor Club.
Herbert Turkheim .of Zurich,
and Mrs. Marion Zinn of
Lucknow were named to the
Educational Leave 'Committee

Council meetings will be .held
qp different nights early in
November and citizens, wishing
to attend sessions should ..take
note.
The first meeting in Novem-
ber will be held Wednesday,
November 6 (one day earlier
than usual) at 7 p.m. in the
council chambers to permit the
mayor as well as the reeve and
deputy -reeve to attend the
Warden's Banquet.
The second meeting of the
month will beheld Wednesday,
November 13 at 7 p.m. (again
one day early) in' the council
chambers to permit the mayor
and the reeves to attend the of-

her column, "Dear Headers",
on an accident when an area
youth sustained an eye injury
in a basketball genie at Central
Huron , Secondary School .at
Clinton on September 13.
Mr. Cochrane reported he —
received a tIlephone call frorn-
the Goderich editor outlining
the mother's Version of the in-
cident and asking for comment.
llL' said he interviewed school
personnel and the ad-
ministrator at .the Clinton
Public Hospital and called the
editor to "fill her in on the
details of theAincid.ent" which
apparently were not in her
possession.. He was informed
the newspaper column already
had beeli written.

Mr. Cochrane outlined the
details of the ,care given the
youth stating he had in his
possession signed statements.
