ROUND AND WITH MARTHA.,
A very nice `lady - • a
newcomer to Goderich, called
me about a .notable happening
which, in her estimation,
should be given more en-
couragement 'and a little more
publicity.
At Sunday mornirfg's
Thanksgiving Service at North
St: United Church ,.the newly
formed "Junior Choir" under
the ,direction of Mrs. Erla
Stewart, also a newcomer to
our town this summer, sang
their number, "Thank you,
Thank you, Lord' with "excep-
tionally fine professional enun-
ciation and inflection, - ex-
tremely well delivered.
Miss Olive Miller of Toronto,
a well trained soloist and
talented musician, says she was
greatly- impressed by the
groups', performance. Given the
encouragement of adequate
publicity this group t4'Pould be
developed for the highest
calibre special .occasions, also
for television.,and radio perfor-
mances.
These young ,peoplie have
great potential,' 'says Miss.
Miller, and with two such fine
musicians as Mrs. Stewart and
Lorne Dotterer ;(who had ac-
companied they group on the
pipe organ), they should go far.
I had just met Miss Miller
'recently` and was greatly im-
pressed by this•lovely.bundle-of
energy. Already she has given
of her time to the local hospital
and the Huron County- Jail
project and others. She is very
interested in crafts and
especially music, and musical
instruments and is happy to. be
making her home here.
I feel we will be fortunate to
know Miss Miller better and
trust she also grows to love our
Prettiest Little Town.
Another newcomer you
shouted meet is Mike Mehta
recently from Windsor, Ont.
whiff has opened an Office in the
Malcolm Mather Building. Mr.

About 3,000 penile im-
migrated to Canada when they
were aaked or forced to leave
Uganda ,owithout money G or
possessions: About .2500 of
these newcomers went to Van-
couver and the ethers settled in
many Tarts of Ontario.
1VIr. Mehta was schooled in,
the British schools and is very
interested _in . making a
lk',elihood ins Goderich with
vacuum cleaner sales.
Here is an interesting fiem
for artists in the area - Keith
Roulston of Blyth hopes tiff
arrange an exhibition of pain-
tings and drawings in their fine
-5
old community building which
houses their nice theatre - for
live theatre that is.
"There are so many arts and
crafts exhibits going on• all
around us - but no ART - or
FINE ART exhibits, only.
It will take a year or so to-
get
o get this whole thing arranged,
but Kei+th, who started that fine
little magazine THE VILLAGE
SQUIRE feels it is time we'did
something about it and would
like anyone interested to con •

Sounds great, doesn't it - so get
down to some serious painting.

The Ahmeek Chapter I.O.D.E.
held its regular meeting at the
home Of Mrs. R. 'Neville,
Anglesea Street. •
The regent, Mrs. M. McKee,
conducted the meeting, with
Mrs. A. Holmes, assistant
secretary, reading the minutes
in the absence of the secretary
Mrs. W. Auld. It was with
regret that the chapter learned
of the death of Mrs. Auld's
husband, and several members
made plans to attend the burial
service at Kincardine on Wed-
nesday.
It was decided to send a gift
to Mrs. H. Stewart, a former
member who moved to Wood-
stock.
The treasurer, Mrs. Neville,
gave the report on finances. A
request -from the Legion for a
donation to the Poppy Fund
was granted. Plans were also
made for the Remembrance
Day services.
Mrs. F. Walkom spoke on
"Meals on 'Wheels" and a•
motion was approved to send a
donation to that organization.
-Mrs.' A. :Habel, citizenship
convener, read an article on
Sunday trucking. The National
executive of the I.O.D.E. feel
this is unnecessary, and urged
the members of local chapters
to voice their disapproval to
the, Federal Government
Minister of Transport.
Mrs. 0: Straughan reported
