Entertainers was opened with
the 4H Pledge at the home of
Cathy. McClinchey. All • mem-
bers were present. The roll call

Lorraine McDowell of Flint
Michigan show her pictures
and tell of her work in the
District of Chad in Africa. She
was a medical missionary there
and •recently escaped ,out of
that country. She spent a few
days last week with Mr. and
Mrs. Norman McDowell and
they were guests last Saturday
to dinner with Mr'. and Mrs.
Harvey McDowell at Blyth.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed 'Davies
recently visited with Mr. and
'Mrs. John Morrison, of Tillson-
burg, and Mr• and Mrs. Spen-
cer German at Woodstock.
Mr. and Mrs. Luther Morley,
of Ailsa Craig, visited last week
with Mr. and Mrs. Ben
Hamilton."
Rev. and Mrs. L.V. Popcock,
of Georgetown, spent the week-
end. with Mrs, Celia. Taylor.
Mr. James Towe attended
the annual general meeting of
the Ontario Goat -Association
held ' at the University of
Guelph. He presided for the
day -long meeting and resigned
from the position of President
after holding that office. for ten
years. , He is at present
president of the Canadian Goat
Association.

HARVEST HOME SERVICE
The 31st Harvest Home Ser-
vice was held last Sunday in St.
Mark's Anglican•Church-with a
former ,rector, Rev. : L.V.

These two visitors to Goderich arrived here very excited
only a few•weeks after learning that there was such a place
as Goderich. The New York City residents came up here to
verify the woman's father's claim that the town existed.
Their excitement was due to the fact that,the town is named
after them or vice ,versa. Their name? Mr. and Mrs. Angel
Goderich, Originally from Cuba, Angel now lives in New -
York with his wife Evelyn'. The name. is rare but every time,
they come across it the people are related in sortie way. The
couple spent :the weekend ' here gathering souvenirs to
prove that there -is such a place and That they had been

The Goderich Chess Club got
off to a good start for its third
season last week. A total of
eighteen tnembers " were
present: playing ' a total of
twenty-five games.
We wish to welcome five new
members to the Club, Brian
Miller, Don Bogie, Darrel
Kloeze, Bill Barwick and
Robert Cox. The new member
having the, most success was
Brian Miller' who picked up
three victories in four games.
Don Bogie also played well
winning two of three games.
DarrellKloeze is a brother of
Harold and John Kloeze and
started the season ahead of
them by winning one of his two
games. Bill Barwick, who• is
looking. forward' to his first Win-
ter in Canada, picked,up an up-
set victory against one of the
clubs stronger prayers. .
Dave Weary started his WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
season in • grand fashion win-
ning all ,four of his games• to
take over first place. Also un-
defeated in one game each this
year are Glen Wightman, Jim •
Weary and Jim Kingsley, Larry
McDougall starting his third
seasoin did very well gaining
,'three wins and a stalemate in
six games. �.
