Committee selected for Women's DyOut. The 1974-75 - Woman's ' Day Out ; Committee held an organizational meeting at the Friendship " Centre . on Wed- nesday, October 2. The programme for 1971.75 was discussed, and . the -executive formed. Members of the •executive, ;are: Ch'airworhan, Edwina :Allen; Vice Chairwoman, Carol' Gosse; secretary, Nancy Pond; treasurer, Hilde Maurer; program convener, Isobel MacDonald; public relations, Gwen Kiar; communications e offic r, Mary Carroll; babysit- ting, Barbara Desjardins; fun • and fitness convener, Pat Hamilton. One outstanding problem, hopefully to be settled by the next meeting, is thesecuring of a suitable location to, hold the weekly Woman's )Day Out meetings. Promptly -upon set.. tling that issue of location, the -Woman's Day Out Committee wild announce the dates and :- timed', for Woman's Day. Out and the program for the first five weeks. ' . An invitatiuct from the Trinity U.C.W. to attend a Fall Thank -offering on October '0 was read. .. Two area farmers were men- tioned in the Western Ontario Farmer as being winners in Seaforth Black and White Undecided on initial plan for rec complex Two architects from Kyles, Kyles and Garratt presented a plan for v the . proposed recreation complex in Goderich to" the complex committee last Tuesday eight that was all but rejected by the group. The sketched plan Called for the use of the board of education property bordered,by Bennett and Eldon Streets and suggested a 'present concen- tration .of pedestrians in that area would merit its use. r The architects pointed put that by using the property, the complex .would accent an ' established centre of activity in • that area brought about by the - arena, GDCI, and Robertson Public School. The pedestrian relationship of the, site would be advan- tageous to the complex as op- posed to picking some property out of town for the location. The plans included an indoor swimming pool, a community McKinley out of hospital and back in Ottawa Huron Member ' of Parliament, R.E. (Bob) McKinley is back in the,House of Commons in Ottawa after he' was released from the hospital after undergoing .a week of tests. _ ., . . Mr. McKinley was admitted. = to hospital in Ottawa on Sep ten'iber 29 after . SU1'fering 'a 'weak spellikd he had been:ab- s.sent from aTe" House since the first week of the present session of Parliament. Mr. McKinley, who uttler went a series of tests while in Hospital, said on his release •that he was "disgustingly healthy." Upon returriillg to the House, Mr. McKinley resumed, his duties' as party whip of the • Progressive Conservative party, and last Monday he. was ap- pointed to the' standing com- mittee for the Parliamentary . centre, an auditorium, 'lighted tennis courts, offices, a site for an rice surface, a senior citizens and crafts room, a track, a football ''field and offices and parking st;ace for about 120 c•Arc • .The architects suggested the plan would still allow the Goderich Trotting Association to rriuve th.e,track out °of town or4'i their own, if they desired, and would not interfere' with' the complex plans. The property the (rack is on now could be sold to private enter- prise and the revenue, used -to finance a,cmove. ' Lack of sufficient parking stymied'the complex committee and sparked' strong •discussion. Off-street parking is a necessity according to some members of the committee and a second traffic flow such as found at the arena cannot be created by a complex 'location. • The members still felt that the arena 'site is the best location and decided to find out the position of the trotting association and the town. A meeting was. planned bet- ween the committee and the trotting association and will in- clude- the county planners. The complex supporters felt it necessary to find out' how these groups felt about moving the track before they eliminated the site as a possible location. NIEE- NOTES Mrs'.
