Dear Editor:
As Subscribers of the Signal
Star we at the Thompson home
look forward to receiving our
paper every Friday Morning.
But just because we look for-
ward to 'it, doesn't mean we
receive it. On the average we
miss getting the. paper two
'weeks out of every month.,
Usually 'if'. it doesn't arrive
Friday, it arrives Saturday or
..sometimes even Monday. Last
Week's. paper (August 15) still
hasn't arrived and it is now
Tuesday.
We ,have called the Seaforth
Post Office twice and your of-
fices twice, but could get no an-
swers. Why should we pay for a
paper that never arrives?'
The second. time 'we. called
• the Signal -Star offices .vve ;were
- told we would receive a paper
the g Prl was .going to mail one
out. If we're lucky we'll receive
it one day before the current
week is on' the stand and in the
mail.
We, were once former
residents of Goderich and we
still have family and friends in
and around Goderich. We at-
tend church in town and our
family doctor has his practice
in town,' •In fact most of our
regular shopping is done ; in
town.
Therefore, we consider our-
selves almost- -a part of
Goderich"'nd like to read the
local news when it is new.
Is there .anything that can be
done about our problem, which
may seem minorto some, but is
very important to . us?

Editor's Note: Yours is :a dif-
fic'u l._problem to solve. All
newspapers leave this plant dt
the sam. time. What happens
to :i ibe n "from the time they
,teach' the post office 'un'til they
are delivered to the readers is a
matter for the post office: `in
recent months, the post office
has been co-operating with the
FRESH — OVEN-READY.
Signal -Star in an effort to
deliver newspapers fdster. Of-
ten it only requires re-routing.
Your complaint, will be studied
and anything that•can be done
(o speed • up delivery of your " ---
newspaper will be done.
Thank you for -your interest -
both in the -Signal -Star and in.
the Town- of Goderich. '

Dear Editor,
In answer, to the letter in the
Star'about people walking their
dogs in t.be park, let me inform
the_genWhote it
that ittl is
generallyVrsenior
citizdns who do walk their
loved pet, in the 'park and they
pay their taxes, -.too, just like,.
this gentleman, and : I notice
these folks have a great deal to
put up with too with dirty per-
sonal things being left in the
park by human beings... •
I know we go • to the park
eveny morning with our dogs
and dogs do.not destroy flower
beds • and property like some
who call themselves. human
beings, and dogs are, not...the .°
only ones who leave waste in
• the park. We come across a lot
•of,,hurnan waste left b`y people
too.
Let me congratulate Leroy
• Harrison for taking an-- in- •
telligent view of the matter.
The park is there for all to ens
joy, not. just a chosen 'few. And -
we do employ'people to keep
the park clean, don't we?
Sincerely yourh,
Mrs. .Victor Ross

Dear Reader,
Fgr'and against, re the whop-
pii g 73 percent fn. favor
headline for the Recreation
Complex, I doubt if it is a true
picture..
I am .all for progress but I:
doubt if. you 'could coral the
type of youth who'.continually
drive _ noisy cars and motor-
cydes around our streets, into a
recreation complex. The first"
place to start -is in : the, home,
Are these youngsters as small
children -.supplied with every
conceivable -toy that. .,they
usually Smash up and get
another, giving them " the idea
•public or other people's
property0is just for them to
wreck, as the destruction in cot-
tages the I-(all"oween rampage is
evidence, or are they taught to
do something useful?
suppose you will say I don't
know what I an talking about
but I •do. I Have eleven 'big city .
grandrons who are kept busy
allthe bine -- start .sailing
o lessons at 12 years, hockey,
baseball, football, drama,
mechanics lesson's, helping the
aged and oung in ho§pitals -in
any spare time; part time jobs,',
etc.
I give full credit to the young
painters of our Square who
didn't stop in: the recent heat
wave; also to.,:tf-ie° young paper
bars whn• deliver rain 'or shine
and sometimes have a hard
time: collecting their`pittance.
Of course there is another
angle. A complex would require
. a bevy of full, time highly
traimed directors at triple, the;,
peS1. 'And, we • do, need *More
seniorcitizen apartments, not
on --the outskirts Of the town
• without bus service which is
only for school children who
need the walking 'exercise.
• Ithink our sidewalks area
lot worse than Mackay 1-1a°ll
and we have plenty 'eef seldom
used halls in schools "and chur-
ches.
