Playhouse sold out .for o
"The first completely sold
out performance was expected
at the Playhouse for the 1974
opening_night", said Managing
Director James Murphy early
in the week.
"1t was", he said, "the
largest advance sale in the
Company's histor;,•."

its 3rd Season Wednesday with
I Do, I Do, a musical comedy
which starred Mary Martin
and Robert Preston in its
original Broadway run.
I Do, I Do is a play about
marriage. Based"o'n the play
"The Fourposter", it spans 50
"years of couple's matrimonial
life together, from wedding

Technicians, director's -and cast alike are working furiously
on the Huron Country Playhouse to get the tent and`barn
ready for the opening 'night production of I Do, f Do, on
June 26. Here lighting director Rod. Hilyer works on seat
assembly with one of the apprentices that joined the com-
pany for the summer. A new concrete .floor has 'been
poured this summer for the stage area under the huge tent.

mark
45 yrs.
On June 7, 1929, Beatrice
Mae Leishman, • the eldest
daughter of Mr. "and Mrs.
Henry Leishman of Dungannon
was joined in holy matrimony
to Percival Barker, son of Mr.
and ~ Mrs. Henry Barker of "
Goderich. The ceremony was
performed at St. John's United.
Church, Arva, with the Rev. S.
Peters, a former minister of the
Leishman's officiating.
Forty-five years ' later this
event was celebrated with , a
surprise party :at the home• of
the bride's brother, James
-Lishman of Belgrave.: Mrs:,
Fred Barker, the bride's sister,
was co -hostess with her sister-
in-law.
About• forty guests enjoyed a
delicious' smorgasbord dinner
and a social evening."lThe an-
niversary couple were showered'
with gifts and good wishes.
"Perc and Bea" have been
Goderich residents since their
-marriage forty-five years ago.
Their retirement years are not
i ie ones. The garden at •188
Palmerston St. portrays their
mutual love for nature, and is
evidence of two green thumbs.
When health permits, they
enjoy travelling holidays and
recording these adventures
with "their camera.

Hear delegate's report
of provincial meeting
Mrs. C. Kalbfleisch was
hostess for the Superannuated
Teachers' meeting on Wed-
nesday June 19 at her home on
Elizabeth Streett.1
Mrs. L. Cline the President
was in charge. An excellent
report was given by Mrs. C.
Kalbfleisch who had attended
the Provincial Conference at
Waterlog on June 11 to June
14.
She reported an attendance
of 338 delegates and members.
To be successful the group
needs a horizon and distipline,
she said.
The 'history of the Waterloo
Lutheran College, now named
Wilfred Laurier, was in-
teresting. Dr. Peters, the
president stated education is
the creation of changes.
The convention in June 1975
will be held in St. Catharines.
The group will meet on Sep-
tember 25 at the home of •Mrs.
O. Armstrong, 255 Britannia
Road 'West.

Meanwhile, rehearsals are
underway for Mary, Mary, Jean
Kerr's witty Broadway comedy
which stars JohnFriesen and
Jacqueline McLeod, with
James Murphy directing. Mary,
Mary plays Wednesday through
Saturday at the Playhouse and
moves to• Kincardine Town
Hall for a performance on Sun-
day, July 7.
Directors, technicians and cast of the Huron Country Playhouse live together at the farm site,
for the theatre group in,,a communal4ype atmosphere that pulls them together into a strong
working force. The Playhouse residents feel that the close company the group, keeps in-
creases their ability to work together on the -productions and that a strong bond exists bet-
