This weekend the Historic
Jail Board hopes to" at least
make a start with the opening
of, the Governor's Residence
and the old Jail. Since it is get:
ting late in the season - so soon,
they will not have the equip-
ment and furnishings such a
fine old place requires - but
that will come with time; I'm
sure many people will come up
with many items they will be
proud to have displayed in the
building - the house, mainly.
Display cases are needed to
display ' many pieces
memor^abilta that will come in.
Help in the way of donations or
time would be 'greatly ap-
preciated.
People to help staff the place
- give of their time, a few• hou.ts
now and then, will help immen-
sely and , I know many who
have time on their hands
should, find. meeting and
talking with. the visitors very
interesting.
The Town is .helping by way
of taking are of the grounds
and other things that will be
needed.
There is a board of dedicated
citizens who are giving their
time and energy to get this fine
old building opened ,again.
Since the whole structure -is
unique in that it, is now the
only one of its kind on the
'Nortjz. American Continent it
should be a'great tourist attrac-
tion - not because it was a jail
but becausik7it has a terrific
history -dating back ''a • great
Many years.
So THINK about it. Can you
• spare a couple of hours now
and then, do you have a very
old piece of furniture or other
things of interest that visitors
would enjoy /seeing?
They are trying -to have
enough people on hand" each
day to see that no harm comes
to anything which is loaned to.
the buildings so ,your precious
oldie will be well `cared for.
Canadian Art and Crafts will
find a spot .here - what do you
have in this line? DO help in
some way to get this "show, on
the road. The ' Pendulum
Players are entertaining there
July 2nd.
Last week I dropped, in to the
Art nd Craft Coyner on
Itartit tone Street and was
pleasantly surprised. M-rs.
Edna Johnston was up to her
ears in invoices and ,orders and
her little shop surely shows the
'Jesuits of her hard work.
Many crafts people • are
bringing in their work•and she
is hard pressed to keep pup with
all the orders for kits and craft
materials. But she TRIES!
She has added picture frames _
to her line of art supplies -
• which is a great help: to any ar-
tist. The price of frames has
soared - like other items in the
'f last few years. It 'one thing to
do a nice painting but it has to
be completed with a nice frame.
Also, a great many people
have fine paintings and in-
teresting pictures that really
need ^bringing up to date with
new frames. So often a picture
is relegated. to' the cellaror at-
tic because it no longer looks
nice on that newly decorated
- wall. The answer is - get it re-.
•
framed and you will have -no
guilty conscience or regrets.
The.price is right, too.
Do you have your ticket for

Fest Saturday evening - THIS

HAROLD REFFLINGHAUS
•
The United man of the mIeek is Harold Refflinghaus.
Harold belongs to the No, 8 uniform! He is one of the "main
men" on the team; the players who set up the action and
keep it going.
Harold is a "class" soccer player; the type of player who
combines techniques, skill, knowledge and 'downright for-
titude! As the photo shows,, he is a handsome' lad (blonde
and blue-eyed for extra measure!) who is 21 years -old and
who has no noticeable vices except that he's a "popcorn
freak"!! (next to soccer, that's his favorite pastime, eating
popcorn!) 1.
Harold attended .Primary and Secondary schools i
Goderich and is presently employed with Delbar Construc-
tion.
He 'is Goderich United's Captain and -takes this respon-
sibility to heart. He is an example to fellow teammates with
his sportsmanlike attitude and his dedicated work on the
field. Harold is an all-around good guy, honest and for-
thright with everyone: .

On Sunday June 23, twenty
five girls -from Goderich went to

The organizer of the Games"

The score does not matter,
but the Rookies lost their two

When the *Go -Getters final
game was over, the team was

Karen Melady was awarded
a gold medal for her outstan-

awarded to anyone who did not
