Fifteen boats were' entered in the race. Keel boat class, B. Butterfly 11, 95,40 min. correc- ted time, G. Robertson, Amore, 95.47 min. corrected time; J. Kane, Checkmate, 96.07 min. corrected 'time. Centerboard class, P. Collier, Gemini, 56.Q7 corrected time; J. Mulhern, Enterprise, 72.09' min. corrected time. Firehall, Dr. M. Watts, KC4616, 50.40 actual time; P. Parsons, KC691*3, 55.45 actual *time. Next weekend is the 100 mile Canada Trust Race..The start is Saturday* at 9 a,m. from' Grand Bend. There are six Goderich,boats entered in this race. Mrs. George Bruce has been coming to a summer cottage in Goderich since before the Firsto World War. Born in Wakefield, Yorkshire, Mrs. Bruce. came to Canada and married Mr. Bruce who came from Giosgow, Scotland Mr. Bruce was an out- standing golfer, and he taught Mrs. Bruce the game. They had four children, all of whom .are golfers - Margaret being otastanding. Mrs. Bruce . was a professional musician with the Glasgow and Toronto Sym- phony. He played the cello. Mrs. Bruce paddled her bike to the golf course, being very lucky to have a built.in baby-sitter.in Auntie, her widowed aunt who came from England to live with the Brtice family. Mrs. Bruce is an honorary member, having golfed at the - Maitland tor -over 50 years. The Board of Directors presented to the Ladies' Sec- tion the 'Mrs. George Bruce Trophy in her honor. Mrs. Bruce enjoys Goderich and her golf game in the sum- frier.but returns to Toronto to pu'r,,Sue her.hobbies of painting, .reading and music in the win- ter. Mrs. Bruce hasn't her game in shape yet this year "as she_ has travelled to Vancouver to 'attend hr great-- granddaughter's wedding., Tuesday. June 18th Ladies night winners of thefirst flight were* Verna Jackson, Maxine Martin and Marg Hinton. Secondand third flight winners were Verna Kane, Kay Duncan, Verna. Frith, Jane Deathe, Carol Hunter, Sally MacEwan • and Edna Looker. . Forty-six ladies entered the Four Ball Better Ball on Wed- nesday June 19 wi,th good weather conditions prevailing. The, Kincardine team of J. Durran and E. Kane came in first to win the Roma Sargent Trophy. .Madelaine -McIntyre and Frieda Whinfield of Owen Sound came in for second prize. The Goderich team of -Shelagh Sully and Jane Deathe placed third, Fourth place team hailed from,,. Ow enkCound. The Goderich team of Kay Duncan and B. Smith placed a 'solid fifth. Sixth, seventh and eighth place went to Meaford, Owen Sound and Kincardine respectively. • The team of Maxine Martine and Ardith Brissette of Goderich came in ninth and tenth place went to the Goderich entry of Jean. Knight and Chris Hoffmeyer- Excellent prizes were received by the winners. Everyone enjoyed a lovely din' ner served by Fanny and a good day was had by all. On Saturday, June 22nd48 people teed -off at 4 o -clock for a mixed two ball foresome. Everyone cooked their own steak, then dancing followed. Fanny Sheardowne has given 'her resignation and has, decided to work elsewhere after a well deserved rest. We will miss the wa9 she managed the club house. Good luck Fanny! Don't forget Friday, July 12 is the Presidents Ball. Keep in mind the mixed two ball on Saturday July 22. You will enjoy the'Chinese food and sing -a -long. The men dreW for the Scotch 2 -Ball. In, the auction the' highest team' of Jack Gould and John Kane sold for $36. Trap shoot finds local man ahead At the trap shoot at the Vanastra Gun Club on 'June 19, Mery Batkin of Clinton had -a perfect day when he hit 25 out of a possible 25 targets. Next came Charlie Brandon of Clin- ton with 22 hits, and Ashley Gilbert of Goderich with 21 hits. The top three were, followed bY Jim Hogg of Seaforth, Percy McClangahan of Clinton and Bill Stewa'rt of Goderich with 19 each. They were followed by 'Jack Carter' of Clinton With 18 and Al Green and Eric Collins of Clinton with 15 each. Bill Stewart of Goderich and Gleti Mogk of Bornholm tied at, 24 hits each at the skeet shoot held last Saturday. Allen Tur- ner of Stratford and Mer Batkin were tied for third spot with 23 each, while Jim Hogg of Seaforth and Harriston Schock of Zurich were nett with 21 eath.
